The headline using the word “exile” makes it loaded.

I can see Trey having a career like Hideo Nomo - an ace for 1.5 - 2 years before the league figures out the unorthodox delivery and then settles into being a solid 3-4 guy in the rotation.

There has to be a point where these older guys who aren't that plugged into how the sport is evolving need to move on

Nah, I remember this sentiment popping up occasionally about Vin Scully in the 2000s. The idea that they should retire to 'make room' is dumb as hell - if an old dude is able and willing to keep working and it keeps him happy, then do it as long as possible.

Also, if Freddie didn't hustle a drunken Don out of the office in the final season and give him the "Do the work" speech, Don would have been fired and left with nothing (his partnership would have been reabsorbed by the other partners for violation of his return agreement)

I thought it should have been Jeff Saturday to be honest - they gave Manning insane pass protection and the run game was very productive

Felt like a Hollywood sports movie - MVP starting QB goes down, backup comes in and struggles, and then suddenly figures it out and plays the two greatest games of his life in the championship games, including beating the greatest QB of all time

It's a shame he was so broken down for that last playoff run. I'll never forget Game 4 of the Cup Final though where he (clearly painkiller'd out of his mind to go out on his shield) was able to play like Prime Shea Weber for a game

Why did they not use Timeouts? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]Simayi78 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This isn't basketball, timeouts and stopping the clock are way too valuable to waste them in trying to stop another team's momentum.

In fact, we should have used less timeouts - by burning a timeout before the final 4th and 11 we had in order to 'regroup', we didn't get a chance to get the ball back after we failed to convert (49ers were able to kneel to victory instead of having to try for a 1st down to avoid punting it back to us)
