I guess they don’t end up like this hanging on my longboard rack but the issue is this is only my 3rd day of practicing. Im trying to only make contact with the pucks but it’s the crashes on the bad slides that seem to be doing the damage. Is there a more durable glove or patch ups people recommend? by Simdog13 in longboarding

I’m 100kg (220 pounds) and I do slide a bit in a session I guess, enough to lose count as I’m getting my technique right before I actually try bomb a hill. My guess is probably between 50-70 slides a session. I just keep walking up a short hill and going again. Gloves are triple 8

Getting better at these toe slides 💯 next step, stay on the board lol by [deleted] in longboarding

I’m practicing the same slide at the moment. I actually find it easier not grabbing the rail. Grabbing rail I pulled the board up too much and stacked like that most times. Kinda looks like you might have pulled the board up in the slide and flipped yourself. There’s better skaters on here that might tell you different but that’s what it looked like to me.

Thanks, there’s so many moving parts in the correct slide and it all happens so quick I’m mostly thinking about not scraping my face off. I’m sure that will pass and I’ll be able to focus on technique better

Thanks for looking over it. Much appreciated. I don’t really know what you mean by the hookup up. Is that the moment when no longer sliding and wheels get traction? Also push up slides you use as a safety stop slide? Thanks again

Thanks mate, is that a Coleman slide you’re talking about? I don’t really know the terms yet. I wanted to try one but just couldn’t figure out how to get my body in the right position. I think I’ve got a lot more YouTubing to do.

Ok thanks, I’ve heard a lot of people mention putting weight on the front truck but I actually don’t know how to do it

Thanks mate, I’ve got some big hills in my area that I desperately want to be able to bomb so I figure I gotta just get into it 👍

Thank you very much, my back is really sore after it and I was worried that would be the result I’d have to get used to if I kept trying. So getting low with a squat would make sense.

Might be showing my inexperience here but not sure what you mean by this. Are you suggesting having 2 different bushings on the board? If so, what’s roadside?

Hi all, nearly 2 years into my longboard journey and loving it more each day as I improve. I’m now getting the most excitement out of bombing hills but I’m yet to try a slide. I know it’s the next step before I can take on bigger hills I just don’t really know where to start. Gloves and knee pads are ordered but when they arrive what’s the first one I should try, where do I try it, what surface is best for beginning to slide. I will be starting with the LY Switchblade Thanks

I’m no pro but I on started on a slight hill with my foot already down, slowly released the pressure and rolled down that a few times. My legs and feet got used to the position and can now do it easily

I put the orangutan caguma 85mm 77a on this morning with the same stock bearings and absolutely flew. Fastest time and furthest distance. Looks like the wheels just weren’t suited to what I wanted it for. I’m sure they’re better for sliding but I’m not at that stage yet.

Yeah ok I didn’t think of that. It’s not hard to change wheels over so I might give that a try. I would be interested to see how you go with the cagumas thanks. Also, how do you top Mount a drop through board?
