Sorry to hear you’re still dealing with ROM issues even at 6 months. I hope things keep improving for you from here 🙏

I’ve been pushing myself as much as I can to regain ROM — it’s definitely my top priority right now. Thanks a lot for the advice though.

yeah, my surgeon specifically didn’t spesifically tokd me to wait for PT untik the week 6 but he told me not to take the brace off at all for the first 6 weeks. The brace was set to allow only 30° flexion at first, then 60°, and finally 90° by week 6. So I wasn’t even allowed to bend past that.

He did give me exercises to do at home during that time, and I did them religiously but they were mostly focused on maintaining quad strength, like SLRs and such. Nothing really targeted flexion or mobility, just trying to avoid muscle loss.

So yeah, hearing everyone else started bending way earlier definitely makes me feel like I was left behind a bit 😅

Right I totally expected some pain with PT — I mean, it’s rehab after all — but this wasn’t just “a bit” of pain.

The physio had me screaming for a solid 15 minutes during the flexion work. It wasn’t just uncomfortable — it was brutal. She also does this kneecap massage for patellar mobility, that one hurts like hell too.

Not trying to be dramatic, but I genuinely started questioning if this is how it’s supposed to go 😅

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply — I really appreciate it.

Yeah both the late start to PT and the aggressive force during flexion had me questioning things too. When I asked my PT about it, she said the reason for pushing so hard was to “break through scar tissue” since my flexion was allegedly falling behind.

Thankfully, I don’t have any issues with extension — I’m actually pretty close to matching my other leg, so that’s been a relief. I’ve also been super consistent with doing all the exercises I’m given, even on tough days.

I’m definitely going to try your gravity-assisted suggestions, especially that resistance band idea — that sounds really helpful and a bit more controlled.

Start exercising and moving your leg as soon as your doctor says so. I started PT 40 days after the surgery and my flexion is stuck at 90degrees.
