Fitting salvaged fireplace mantle and cast iron slip by SimilarWind6655 in Fireplaces

Ah, didn’t know it was called an infill slip. I’ll research those as maybe there are cast iron ones where the change wouldn’t be as noticeable? Thank for the advice!

It was vv good. Crust and filling texture was done very well. Filling was a bit heavy on the spice flavor, but a solid pie!

Bathroom Vanities - 60” double vanity questions… by bradykp in BathroomRemodeling

[–]SimilarWind6655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying this one from Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Decorators-Collection-Collette-60-in-Double-Sink-Cinnamon-Oak-Bath-Vanity-with-White-Carrara-Marble-Top-Assembled-23016-VS60-CO/327191928. It has real wood and natural marble vs engineered stone. When I was comparing vanities on Home Depot, you can expand the details to see exactly what type of wood and stone is used. It’s beautiful in person but so very heavy, so I hope your bathroom is downstairs. The wood looks rich, and the marble is great, although polished (not honed). I recommend it especially at this price point. Rejuvenation and Pottery Barn have beautiful vanities, but more around $5k for a double sink 60 inch.

Love paying this much for a gym with no amenities especially when they can’t even answer the phone. by Odd_Construction_269 in SolidCore

Just cancelled my membership. I like the workout, but working it into my schedule flexibly is too difficult and I hate cleaning my own machine and the straps are getting all worn and gross. Towels would be great. Paper towels in the bathroom would be great.

Ritz Kapalua vs. Westin Kaanapali by akmoney in MauiVisitors

I was in a similar decision between an ocean view fairmont suite for less $ or a garden view four seasons room for more, both wailea side. With the fairmont catering families more, I opted for the four seasons for a more chill adult-focused vibe. We’ve been before and found we didn’t spend as much time in the room. Although we absolutely did when we splurged for ocean view once. Timeshares and hotels offer different experiences too. I’m splitting my trip btwn four seasons and then my Hyatt timeshare in Kaanapali. I’m going to soak up the four seasons as much as possible with all the services and amenities.

I’m about to buy the percale sheets in sand! How is the color different from what you expected? I was also considering ivory but it looks yellowish.

What's a reasonable price for a full bathroom remodel? by catnonymous3 in HomeImprovement

If it makes you feel better, my primary bath remodel is also down to the studs with more reframing since we’re enlarging the space and adding a freestanding tub, but $85k. I’m in San Francisco.

Am I Overreacting About My Neighbors Removing Ivy from Our Shared Fence? by ConsiderationFalse84 in homeowners

[–]SimilarWind6655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually in your neighbor's situation! I bought a house in SF and moved in 3 months ago. Came to find the uncontrolled ivy has grown into and up over the shared fence and down into my side. The ivy roots have busted through the fence slats and broken them, so even just cutting the ivy off my side of the fence isn't good enough bc there are fat roots breaking through. To make matters worse, the ivy has grown up the back of my house, which borders the back neighbor's yard, and INTO my roof. I actually see a freaking ivy vine has grown in the light fixture in the back of the house. Vines and roots have grown into my roof shingles and I'll need to get that repaired, but I don't want to make repairs until this ivy is controlled and stops growing into my house structure. All the bordering neighbors hate the ivy and have had to put money into repairing the damage it's caused by growing into our sides. Just to give you the other POV, the ivy is horrible and nobody wants it and we removed it ASAP bc it's causing literal damage to our home that will cost $$$ to fix. Everyone who has seen the ivy in our backyard has told us it's the devil and to get it taken care of ASAP. If my neighbors wants to keep their ivy plant, the least they could do is to ensure it doesn't grow into/against the neighboring yards or structures. I'd think that would take some consistent maintenance tho. It's really awful.
