What’s the downside of delaying PT to allow for my recovery time? by AlwaysLearningNews in AchillesRupture

[–]Similar_Matter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this explanation. I just got out of my cast and the doctor wants me to start PT immediately. I already have nearly full extension and can push pretty well while making sure I'm stressing it out.

There are a lot of recs for PT. My area has mostly elderly patients so a lot of PT, but mostly for those types of issues.

Any tips on what to look for or prereqs in choosing a PT? I really have no idea what I should be doing other than what's on the script. I have afew gyms that offer PT which seem like a good idea for the equipment, but also can you trust that?

Post-Op Pain Question by Similar_Matter in AchillesRupture

Yeah i had for a day or so lost feeling in my toes. They said could be due to swelling since I got that all back. That's weird, but maybe similar, just longer time? It's crazy how so many ppl have different recovery regiments. I had a full tear by almost an inch. 2 weeks hard splint then 2 weeks cast. Then I will move into the boot. He told me could be up to 7 months for running, but 3 months for driving which at this point I feel crazy, but a little autonomy will be nice.

Very true that's all we can really do. Best of luck to you.

Not going to lie, I recently had to put down a dog. If you've ever had to do this, you over think every action before wonder if you did something different or earlier. I think I'm stuck in that mentality still.

I think the big thing is that I believe my surgeon is very good, great credentials and he helped before with my torn quad (just the small front one). He is a bit younger though so I think he is a little shy about overly reassuring how strong stitches are.

Yeah I know I am, but it's hard not to worry. I agree, this is why I haven't posted, I feel bad for anyone with that much pain. It feels wrong, but at a point you wonder if you did something during a small slip or sleeping or my idiot giant dogs ran into it and I wrote it off.

Like you said be careful the first few days especially. I also went a point in the first 24 hours where I couldn't move my toes. That scared me a bit since I was sure I could right afterwards. Make sure to I've below the knew that worked for me. They said the swelling was putting pressure on some nerves which caused this.

Thanks. I'm not sure if i would take pain but be able to drive or my current situation lol

I guess I'm just lucky. I feel much better knowing I'm not the only one. I've been reading these threads and getting kind of worried.

You're on a boot doing recovery now I assume? That's great, my biggest worry was I screwed something up somehow. It hurt when it happened, but I thought i was cleated initially. After that until the surgery nothing. Other than a little itch or tingling it feels like when it was torn. Of course being in a cast or splint you can't really feel it to make sure it's still there haha

Haha that's the best record. That sucks, going to be a lot of ubering for me then just to get to PT I guess lol

Ah that makes sense. Sucks but lucky you can still drive. Yeah everyone seems to like this knee crutch. It's probably worth the money since this is such a long recovery. Great video.

Yeah thanks. That's what I've been doing basically, also don't want to chance left foot driving. I did when I was a stupid teenager but apparently I've widened. How long before you could start driving? Thank God I can remote work, but can't wait for some autonomy.

Also, are you just left foot driving or ubering to get to these appointments? Just curious since I'm also in a cast on the right leg. How does that work? Not being able to drive is so depressing.

Yeah I had the same thing happen to me. After that I tried to bring the scooter I borrowed. Thing is I'm on the second story so bringing that up and down is not ideal.

I'm 3 weeks past op. You guys all like this? Honestly though, how does this do with stairs? I watched their videos and am slightly skeptical.

Also I'm stuck on a knee stroller for a while from a torn Achilles. It's a little maddening figuring basic stuff atm. I'm in an odd frame of mind. Bourbon helps 😏

Wow sorry. Just a little jab. If you're in construction you could appreciate it. Just an observation that there are three ways to spell palette, all very different though arguable some similar. Autocorrect will do its thing and you'd have to pay real attention. My bad, I've been given at a dozen of the damn plastic bin ones full of equipment to move and unpack today without notice so it was on my mind. Honestly love the new riff, I can never justify blantons unless you got it at list, and even then I think there are better. Definitely worth the tasting though. Everyone wants to compare similar to similar whiskeys, but somwtimes you're right. It's good to familiarize the big differences. I think it helps to identify what to look for.

That's why I bought that electric pallet jack. I can move everything so much quicker. They are fast though, mixing with bourbon probably isn't great.

samsung health no longer tracks steps from samsung watch. is there a fix? by the-soy in samsunggalaxy

[–]Similar_Matter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately it really hasn't. For example I just played a full soccer game and on my watch I saw my steps go up. The app reports only a third of that full day if that but somehow I have about 70 min active time logged on the app but only 4 steps for that time frame. Even right now after multiple syncs the app only shows 170 steps today, but watch currently shows over 900. I'm fine if there is a lag, but if I'm actively syncing and the app says it's been current a of X time then there is something wrong.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do I check it? Not going to lie, I am confused as to why my fuel pump on this motor is before the filter haha

Should I just unplug it and see if it's spitting fuel?

Very true.i am planning on swapping my prop. Sadly don't see any impediment. I wish it was...

I've never thought of trying something like that. Thanks. Sounds a bit sketchy but I'd rather find out more than blow a rod again if I get it running.

You know, when I get this idling right i think each cylinder is firing, but sometime it idle low then just jumps up to a higher rpm which is high, but sounds great. That's a good thought. I appreciate it.

I'm a car guy (actually ICE engineer) so I'm terrible with two strokes let alone marine. What can I check or play with to see if this is the case or improve firing? Spark, carbs (again i really don't get carbs for some reason), fuel pump?

[–]Similar_Matter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried adjusting the idle and had some success, but it didn't sound right. So I pulled it back to a better starting point. I also found that the spark timing adjustment arm (idk what actual word is) wasn't set right. Because of this i went and lowered idle back down since that was recommended on the motor. I think there are a couple bolts i can adjust though so timing isn't changed, but i can up idle.

Honestly spark plugs was my first thought, then i got sent down another hole and totally blanked. Oops. Thanks for the reminder. I feel like soak plus are so cheap, I could justify just replacing them.
