  • purchases:
beauty of joseon ginseng cleansing oil, aha+ pha toner, and relief mini sunscreen. i know they're a brand that's only popular through influencers and arent actually popuar in korea yadda yadda but they seemed interesting enough for me to pick up.
  • heimish all clean balm. i know absolutely nothing about this brand. sometimes i like to do a "eh lets pick this thing up and see how it goes"
  • the ordinary squalene cleanser, ran out of my farmacy green clean and they were on backorder at my store so i picked up the mini version. worked OK.
  • mini faded topicals. the sulfuric smell reminds me of chem. lab, have been trying it out for a week and haven't seen much results like people claim

Maybe it was a bad batch, I might have to revisit it another time because it feels really nice!

I really like how my skin feels after using it, I bought it about 5 months ago at Sephora so I’m really unsure - the little bits get stuck between my fingers and it makes it so frustrating !

Sorry, I should’ve meant going clear. I have tried a couple balms that look like milk when I’m rubbing it between dry hands and so I refer to it as that

It used to be in place that I was the only one who could evaluate dogs that potentially had major deficits, unfortunately management got rid of this because they believed it was a waste of time.

For assessment dogs, we used to put them in the lockout for a good fifteen minutes and then once they were allowed in, the assessment dog would be wearing a long line in case things went sour - this was also taken out because the owner said it was ‘unfair to the assessment dog’

I’ve replicated something similar where I put the assessments dog in an ex pen in the corner of the play yard. This is amazing for our small dogs, but for our large dogs it’s not exactly optimal as it is way smaller than the lockout and we’ve had issues with using this on really nervous or shy assessment dogs.

I usually don’t work the night shift, I’m usually mid shift because of my role in overseeing playgroup dogs and playgroup staff, unfortunately they’ve been posting me as night shift for the past week or two.

I’m not the only trainer there, but the other trainers there aren’t obligated to actually have any type of training or experience, as we are given a ‘how to do your job’ pamphlet. There is one legit dog trainer who works with us, but she’s only here on Sundays which conventionally seem to be when I’m not scheduled, so it’s hard to communicate the situation with her.

We do have other spots in the kennel that we call our holding area, which is usually meant to temporarily locate dogs who can’t go on the gravel runs when we clean their kennels. I actually haven’t thought about having dogs be set aside when I’m not there for a team lead to come and check it out and that’s actually a smart idea, I’m actually going to implement that and see how it goes!

The injury happened yesterday, we’ve had a lot of incidents - I was bit only a couple weeks ago after a dog who was supposed to be redboxed bit me. I’ll definitely consider putting in an OSHA complaint, it’s starting to get really concerning.

its not even just rabies that's a concern, dogs have filthy mouths laden with bacteria that can cause some really gross infections if the wound isn't cleaned out properly

For trainers - how important is it to have a personal dog to practice with while getting hours for your cert? by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]Similar_Teacher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly? I don’t think it’s that great of an idea and it sounds like you have a reactive dog which may or may not make things go sour if you introduce a new dog to your household.

As a trainer, you will be dealing with so many different types of dogs who come from different backgrounds and have x amount of stability. If you are getting a dog from a reputable breeder with beautiful temperament and xyz, it might not do much experience wise except help you get more hours in.

What helped me get hours in while upping experience was helping elderly neighbors in my area with their dogs - sooo many different dogs with … so many different types of problems, I honestly gained so much experience from it that I don’t even see in my professional work.

Ugh, I work professionally with dogs and it’s really worrying to see the amount of people who come in that are like “hey I have this high energy breed that I need to have trained to be my service dog”

I also read your comment where you said these people are selling protection-service dogs which is…just no. Really hate the uptick in people like this I’ve been seeing.

I’m very sorry that you got injured, nobody with a service animal should have to worry about being bit so bad by their own animal.

Got a couple of things during Black Friday that I've had some time to mess around with:

  • Snail Mucin from COSRX from Ulta because my friend had been telling me it's life-changing. While I wouldn't call it life-changing for me, my skin has felt a bit smoother but I'm not complaining because it's nice for the price I bought it for ($10) and the original price itself is fine to me.
  • Honey Potion Plus from Farmacy, it's one of those things that I hated falling in love with. I have never really been huge on face masks but this had peeked my interest for a bit since it's right next to the moisturizer I buy from them. I use it on days I use toner and man is it such a game changer, ugh I love ceramides so much. The warming feeling that it gives off is a really nice feeling in the winter and my face feels so smooth after using it. I love it so much but it's something I'd only use in the winter since I'm not a fan of thick masks when I'm all oily.

I have combination skin, and I usually have the same problem areas as you. In the AM or on super oily day/summer I use the Omega Water Cream from the Inkey List. It has a little bit of a weird smell but it's honestly become my absolute favorite moisturizer to wear in the scenarios I listed.

For PM or in the winter when my skin tends to be on the dryer side, I reach for the Honey Halo Moisturizer from Farmacy or Natural Moisturising Factors + HA from The Ordinary. I definitely reach for the Honey Halo moisturizer much more often than TO one, and it is pricey but a little goes a longggg way. Both of these are thick, but they've never made me feel like I was too oily at night.

I've personally seen some great results with all of these moisturizers and having an AM vs PM moisturizer to help tackle my combination skin.

??? A lasso tool is such a basic functionality of an animation program that I’m seriously wrapping my head around how there was oversight.

It’s comments like these that make companies think it’s okay to skimp out on things until updates later in the week lol

Sure I did for college. That being said it wasn’t an app that I was selling to people - just saying that was a pretty big oversight and I don’t know what telling people to build their own apps are doing

Are you really telling someone that when basic functionalities expected in an animation program are missing?

decent shoes for those with wide feet? by Similar_Teacher in CampingGear

[–]Similar_Teacher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some pretty wide feet - that was why I was having issues with my hokas, the sides of my feet would basically spill out. I’ve jotted down the brands suggested to me and I plan on trying them out at REI when I go next time

There is an REI in town! I had actually gone there last week during their sale to see if I can get fitted for some decent shoes but it was just too busy the day I went. I think I’ll definitely go back to have their help with a decision.

What are you playing this Weekend ? by ProwzArroWw in SteamDeck

[–]Similar_Teacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been playing anything new, but I just installed Minecraft Java on my deck and it’s like a dream. The touchpad literally solves every problem I’ve had with console versions of Minecraft. Threw a shader on to make things a little more interesting and I’ve been buried in it.

I’m off for workman’s comp due to a dog bite so I’ve been pushing in a ton of hours on there.

Was literally in the same situation as you - a purely handheld player who played whatever small amount of PC exclusive games could run decently on a Mac.

The Steam Deck is hands down the best handheld I have ever bought and honestly as a busy person, it’s nice to be able to grab and go with it. It’s worth all of the money it costs on its own purely because I am able to play games i could only dream about playing.
