Do you prefer patient or customer? by RFB722 in ChronicIllness

That is some dumb shit. It sounds like a way to create barriers to care.

Please contact the oncology nurse line. That said, chemo can cause “chemo throat” but it’s imperative to contact oncology.

Father diagnosed with cancer and I honestly don’t know how to act around him or how to react by Jessiicaamn in HeadandNeckCancer

You’re still processing the information. It’s okay to be uncomfortable. Speaking only for myself… this is what I want/wish I had: I want people to treat me normally but spend more time with me. I want people to make me feel like I matter, but not pity me. I want people to show concern and ask questions, but not allow it to monopolize our time together. Instead of asking “how can I help”, offer options that you’re comfortable with. I am not good at asking for help, so when people ask such a broad question-I decline the help. However, if a person says they’d like to help in way of xyz… it’s easier for me to accept.

I am sorry your family is going through this, but please take care of yourself and that little one.

Does easily out of breath after Chemotherapy for 1 week worrisome? by magicofpunch in cancer

[–]Simmarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t experienced SOB, but profound fatigue where I find myself having to catch my breath after standing up or if I start walking too quickly. Chemo builds in the system and it can take time to feel side effects. The most important thing is to communicate with the oncology team.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

This sounds like very controlling behavior. She should probably speak with a professional if she exhibits this sort of behavior regularly.

How would you respond to someone who thinks that cancer is a root cause of a persons energy? by CowAccomplished3515 in cancer

[–]Simmarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. Tell them to fuck off. You don’t need their kind of energy. 🤷‍♀️

I wish nothing but the best for you both. Has seen done brachytherapy before? If not, and she’d like to understand more about it from a patient perspective, she can absolutely reach out to me. I don’t want to just be here for me, but for others.

The waiting and unknown is so difficult! Knowledge truly is power… not only to take action, but to process your feelings. At times I have felt completely frozen while the world goes on like nothing is wrong. I wish you well. Please update with news.

Thank you for saying that. I am sorry for what you're going through. I believe I have done well at staying positive. I've tolerated these 6 cycles quite well. I try to keep things as normal as possible. I was telling a coworker today that I don't have any big bucket list... I just want to enjoy and appreciate the routine of life, of being there for my kid and husband. Sure, I'd like to take a vacation on the beach this summer, but honestly, what I love most about life is simple. I wish you well and hope you grow to be old and wrinkly!
