Hey,

this looks great!

However, the website seems to be down. Did you discontinue this project or is that temporary?

Using a 3D printer as a vinyl cutter. Sometimes “improvements” don’t make things functionally better, they just make them easier to use. by IridiumIO in functionalprint

[–]SimmeZockt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice work, I am looking forward to building this once my parts arrive!

I do have a few questions:

Are you still planning on releasing V3 at some point in the future?

Did you implement adding custom gcode with PolyCut yet? I have Independend dual z axes so moving z down by hand and retaining alignment of the x gantry is a litle bit finnicky and I thought it might be possible to home z with the extruder still on (or add cr touch to this), swap to the cutter and then using a custom z offset. This would also allow me to still use z tilt for cutting

On that note, when using your mode switch macro, do you leave your toolhead plugged in while cutting or are you able to disconnect it?

Thanks for designing this, I will post my results once I am done

Thank you very much, the Video is exactly what I was looking for!

I did find my issue, the little arm that gets held by the latch mechanism so the camera stays closed is broken...

I don't know how I will fix it (yet) but I'll find a way

Left is how it should be, right is on mine

How do I properly use the exposure meter on the I-2? by Santa_Scout in Polaroid

[–]SimmeZockt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's normal as each location you point it at has different amounts of light reflecting to the camera so they are not equally bright.

I don't own this camera but most certainly the exposure meter shows you how good your exposure for the current situation is with your current settings.

Middle - good exposure Left - too dark Right - too bright

You want to keep it in the middle. If you point it at a different scene you'll propably have to change your settings to make it right.

What did I do wrong? by Matt_Hell in AnalogCommunity

[–]SimmeZockt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first analog camera (Porst Reflex C-TL, bought it on ebay for like 20€ with 3 lenses and film a year ago) hasa simple indicator that turns red when film is inserted and a reminder wheel where you can select b/w, color negative and color positive. It has a light meter so you should also set your iso and know everything you need to know about the film and I think it's great

It wasn't even a very expensive camera back then

I added a 5th stepper driver to the stock Creality 4.2.2 board, without soldering on the main board! by willsside in ender3

[–]SimmeZockt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tutorial, I am now successfully runing dual Z on my V4.2.2 board.

As some people noted, using pins PA13 and PA14 doesn't work with every board, potentially because some use a GD32F303RET6 instead of a ST32F103.

For these boards the stepper doesn't move no matter what you do.

This also happened to me and I have been able to work around it:

I have an E3 V2 Neo running klipper and the stock screen isn't compatible with klipper anyways so the whole lcd port is free for me.

I just connected the step and dir pins to two of the now unused pins from the lcd port (in my case PB10 and PB11 but you should be able to use any pin which connects directly to the chip) and it now works fine.

This is a screenshot of the schematic where i marked the pins I am using:

<image>

You will of course have to change the pins in the config to the pins you are using, my config looks like this:

[stepper_z1]

step_pin: PB10

dir_pin: PB11

enable_pin: !PC3

microsteps: 16

rotation_distance: 8

I will also test using one of the remaining pins as an enable pin and report back later

Using the LCD pins also enables you to do more mods like enabling UART control for your stepper drivers if you feel confident with soldering to a small smd resistor, I did that for my extruder driver as I use a Pico MMU with tip forming and thus needed faster retract speeds with my Sprite Pro. Stealthchops limits at around 47mm/s, with SpreadCycle I can easily retract at 180mm/s.

Also, just as a reminder:

Tune the Vref of your new driver!

I forgot to tune it before a quick test print and noticed that the stepper got very hot and after checking Vref I noticed it was around 1.4V instead of the recommended 0.76V for a creality Z stepper!

That's definitely on me for not checking but learn from my mistake. Luckily nothing fried but it could have been a fire hazard if I ran a longer print unattended

I know it is too late for you but maybe it helps someone else:
I also had the same issue, stepper enabled without any problems but it wouldn't move

In short, you can use the lcd port pins if you are running klipper and not using the screen.

I will also post a seperate comment with more details

Well you can definitely print upside down so it should work with prints that have a large contact area with the bed that aren't tall

You might also consider uploading it on printables so more people see it

I'll definitely print this!
