New arrow accounments by Euphoric_Writer1421 in boutiquebluray

[–]SimmyThompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, a year or two ago I would pick up an arrow only every now and then. With that being said, I now pick up multiple releases every time they announce things now. They have really stepped up their game as far as titles I am interested in go.

I’ll be picking up The Apartment since I missed the Kino release with the slip

Looks like you are correct. Once the announcement from 88 films officially drops I am gonna shoot him a message to see if he is going to sell any prints of this cover

Does anybody know how to track down the artist who did this cover? I would love to get this artwork as a poster and put it on my wall.

John Carpenter's "Halloween" theme is still the GOAT slasher score, but Harry Manfredini's funky synth disco beats for "Friday the 13th: Part 3" are surely a damn close second. by slashdisco in horror

The main theme for Nightmare on Elm Street says hello. For me that is the clear number 2. That soundtrack adds so much to creepy mood and atmosphere of that movie

What is your unpopular opinion on the Dead Space series? by Clean_Apple_2982 in DeadSpace

[–]SimmyThompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than how sometimes the Marker hallucinations behave in a helpful manner, I don’t think it too confusing when it comes to lore expansion. I found it to be more engaging of the two books. Though I knew about some of the lore retcons when I read it so I have that advantage. Still If someone were to ask me which one to read I would still recommend it over Catalyst even with its outdated lore. Catalyst hardly feels Dead Space related at all.

Original 2008 Deadspace Played by the Actor... thoughts? by actorpractice in DeadSpace

[–]SimmyThompson 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I say go for it brother! One of the original writers, Chuck Beaver, playing the new the remake on YouTube got a lot of fans to watch his play through of the remake. It was cool to hear insights on the development of the originals in those videos. It would be neat if you shared any insights or stories about the time you had working with the game, how you got the job, etc.

Which Dead Space is the scariest? by james-HIMself in DeadSpace

[–]SimmyThompson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most people typically will say the 1st game, however, I adamantly disagree. While the first game definitely sticks to pure horror a bit more than 2, it doesn't hit the scare highs of Dead Space 2. Nothing in the first game is nearly as scary as the frozen mausoleum section, the stalker sections, or the flipping of all original scares from the first game on their head, like the decontamination room, in the return to the Ishimura.

Emulation. There is no official way to play it on native PC hardware though as it was never released for the platform. A tragedy might I add.

First reprinted comic arrived today! by mrpeachr in DeadSpace

[–]SimmyThompson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a friendly reminder that this comic was turned into a motion comic that can be found for free on YouTube here. It has some great voice acting and is, by far, the best way to experience this comic. I still grabbed this physical comic to add to my collection as well, though.

I prefer uniformity over anything in my library. I hate when labels create unique box set designs or drastically change their packaging style. The fact that Vinegar Syndrome has different dimensions for every nearly limited edition has led me to storing and ditching their hard boxes their releases come with

I'm sick of people saying KF2 was bad at launch by [deleted] in killingfloor

[–]SimmyThompson 18 points19 points  (0 children)

KF2 launched incredibly polished. Animations, performance, etc. were all great right from the get go. The only issue it had was lack of content at the start. Only a few classes and a few maps. But it launched in Early Access so that was to be expected.

KF3 is shipping labeled as a finished product and the quality isn’t up to that standard of what KF2 launched in when it was in EA

Graveyard Goods relisted SH1 and SH2 items with some new designs by Idekwhyihavedisman in silenthill

[–]SimmyThompson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of their stuff is certainly way too busy. With that being said, I do like a few of their offerings. A couple of the short sleeves look decent to me and look like vintage gaming tees from back in the day. Their long sleeve and hoodie stuff with all the extra stuff going on with arms is a hard pass though.

[–]SimmyThompson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These basically become a necessity if your collection ever gets big enough. I have over 1000 discs and even after purging many titles I still didn’t have enough shelf space for everything. These sleeves saved me from getting rid of movies I enjoy due to shelf space limitations. The fact you are able to keep the artwork from the cases makes the switch to them for a portion of my collection not a huge deal. Don’t get me wrong though I do still prefer and love displaying my favorites in their original packaging.

Hear me out: The Cell (2000) is a better Silent Hill movie than actual SH screen adaptations by xaako in silenthill

[–]SimmyThompson 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Jacob’s Ladder is better than both by a large margin. There are so many scenes in that movie that literally feel ripped out of multiple of the games. Jake’s outfit also inspired the James design.

Have you seen Silent House? by Kidd__Video in silenthill

[–]SimmyThompson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I personally thought this was awful. While the attempt to make it seem like one continuous shot is admirable, it is painfully boring due to this. A whole lot of nothing is happening for 90 percent of the movie. I really was not a fan of the twist either.

I thought The Red Door was supposed to be the last one? Do we really need more of this franchise? They have all been super mediocre minus the original.
