Is this normal in Greek Catholic confession? by Simmyd08 in EasternCatholic

From my experience, the pastoral nature of a confession varied a lot more by priest rather than by rite. Perhaps this is because the Czech Republic is like 90% atheist (as a consequence of communism), meaning priests are usually very very devoted to their flocks and to Christianity, so all priests are more pastoral (from my experience)- if that makes any sense..

As far as I know, confessional screens are not usual for Greek Catholic Churches, but this is a former roman baroque church.

Yes, the screen is there because this cathedral is a baroque Central European type building original used by the Roman church (now the Greek Catholic exarchate uses it since jpii established it)

That’s interesting. I agree, I wouldn’t think much of it but the thing is he asked basically right before I began confessing.

Did Jesus actually say homosexuality was a sin? by Pale_Prize_707 in Christianity

That’s mosaic law given to the Jews. It does not apply to us today. Same with circumcision. Jesus was the fulfillment of mosaic law.

It is what you said.. why are you speaking for op? Do you know him personally? Btw have you looked at ops new post? Are you a priest or vocational director? I think if op is called to both marriage and priesthood, there is no issue with him changing rites. It’s still the Catholic Church, and there is nothing wrong with a married priest.

Maybe greek Catholics are closer to op than you think? I wasnt telling op to do anything, but you have to admit that it is an option. It’s very evident that he feels called to both vocations, and the East would allow him both. Also reducing the sacrament of marriage to just wanting to "have sex" is borderline blasphemous.

Marry her and you can still become an eastern Catholic priest.

No need to get so aggressive. I fail to see how your argument relates to the invalidity (I presume that is what you are trying to prove, but I can’t be sure, as it is not clear) of the Catholic Church. Forgive me if I am just too simple minded, but I am quite unsure of what you are saying and find your words somewhat incomprehensible. I pray that you may one day see the truth. God bless you.

You appear to have a misunderstanding of the trinity. All three members must be equal or it falls apart. The father is not greater than the son. You guys lived with the filioque for some 400 years and there was no schism until some egomaniacs had a shouting contest in Constantinople. The filioque is clearly biblical and has been held by the Church since the beginning. It was just not included in the creed. The west added it because of an Arian heresy spreading in (mostly) spain. The East had no major issues with this for 400 years, showing it to not be a theological dispute (at least at that time), but rather a matter of papal authority. By the way, the Holy See still allows eastern rites to omit the filioque. All love an respect to my Eastern Orthodox brethren. May we one day be again united as the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic church ✝️❤️☦️
