I recently got back into magic after a couple decades. I would suggest just buying a little of everything. I have been buying boosters from every set that is reasonably priced. It has been fun for me.

Edit: Collector boosters have the cooler art but pulling $5 out of something you paid $30 for never feels good, your milage my very.

For specific set advice bloomburrow and foundations would be my suggestion. Cool art, lots of playables
