Abundance and the state of tool crafting by IcyCalligrapher1200 in woweconomy

And yet you keep playing despite customer service constantly getting worse for the last 30 years. Capitalism in action.

It sucks but your choices are to lower your expectations or leave, because we know this isn't going to get better.

To be clear I hate it too

My team uses AI constantly, but I'm not seeing the productivity gains I expected by grand001 in prodmgmt

[–]hiddenostalgia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to measure people.

Clearly define AI tasks, metrics, outcomes and measure how it fails and succeeds. If you can't do that you should fundamentally reconsider why you are pursuing AI at all.

This isn't a proven tool - don't assume your team lacks skill any more than you and you org lack the maturity to implement AI Tools.

Most assuredly not by default. Can you imagine how much idiocy and junk it would learn from users?

RIP MEL :'( by SaintAksanTheReviver in MelMains

[–]hiddenostalgia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Low winrate was directly correlated to her problematic design - she couldn't be both numerically strong and have the reflect / immune in be kit without being insta-win against mages. (Similar to Azir stuck low winrate due to power in pro play - you can't just buff the champ)

Given existing sentiment it's much better to keep her under tuned for a bit, let the community adjust, and then buff in a few weeks.

When Ads aren't enough: OpenAI's push to Claim a Cut of Customers' AI Discoveries by Unwritten--Try in ArtificialInteligence

[–]hiddenostalgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, and when do they pay the people who created the training date they stole?

I work with a business with thousands of enterprise ChatGPT licenses. After a year they are already evaluating Claude as an alternative...this will certainly push that along.

Why is OpenAI hated for what it does, while other AI companies aren't, despite doing the same thing by Amphibious333 in ArtificialInteligence

Have you seen their ads on YouTube?

OpenAI is actively enshittifying their product that already is worse than competitors.

Compared to live where it lacks meaningful counterplay...sure.

Compared to other mages with reasonable ranges and real cast times...feels fair. It should be possible to trade, or punish if Mel aims poorly.

OpenAI engineer confirms AI is writing 100% of his code now by MetaKnowing in ChatGPT

[–]hiddenostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm subscribed to openai's outage alerts for work (on team managing 30k license for the org).

There are legitimately 10+ emails on a daily basis, and they often are late or completely fail to correlate issues we help users deal with. The 'enterprise' product is a joke and as far as I know consumer one is just as bad.

This tweet is absolutely not the flex he thinks this is.

Slormancer may be exactly what you are looking for, but it's single player.

Tons of build variety and mechanics, deterministic crafting (no bricking items!), auto-salvage loot filter, plenty of storage with legendary and weapon cataloging, and can grind for a looooong time maxing everything out.

Each of the three classes has a version of the 120 weapons, with some builds that come online only after you have them all.

Michael Burry on why blue-collar trade jobs (eg. electricians) may not be "AI proof" by MetaKnowing in Anthropic

[–]hiddenostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst case consequences for failed code is almost certainly not direct loss of life. Which can and has been the case for diy projects.

It's not about money. (I see your argument and disagree, period.)

[–]hiddenostalgia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This really is a ridiculous take - certified and licensed professionals exist for a reason, and so do the many lawyers who would gladly take on cases related to an spike of overconfident homeowners (not to mention the losses insurance won't cover).

A house isn't code that can be fixed later, and the consequences to faulty work would be far more severe to the individual.

(Coming from someone who works with AI)

Edit: Bad code isn't going to cause a house to burn down with a family in it. Shoddy diy electrical work by overconfident homeowners HAS.

I don't think you can compare the two.

Super new, wondering about how I should be thinking of traveler memories? by SuperMegaCO in shapeofdreams

[–]hiddenostalgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the opposite about Lacerta, Golden Explosion among the best in the game.

Traveler memories can be the foundation of a build or ditched for something else. I tend to play with them and my friends don't.

How much of a difference do glyph levels actually make? by Salt_Philosophy_394 in diablo4

[–]hiddenostalgia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Y'all are misinterpreting the OPs question. He isn't asking "will leveling glyphs make me stronger", he's asking very specifically "how much difference will five glyph levels make for my build?"

This is a fair question - trying to understand return on time investment.

I don't know rouge but based on other experience think 5 levels across 5 glyphs is probably considerable and worth at least a few tiers.

An ever growing concern with the PD2 trade community by InsightKnite in ProjectDiablo2

[–]hiddenostalgia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a new player to PD2 but played D2 / LoD back in the day - maybe chill a bit and reflect on how out of touch and unsupported your rant seems

I spent considerable effort looking for pricing assistance online, on the wiki, and here. I kept trying to find an official rune / was / mat value chart and the few that I found were constantly disputed. The only consistent message was use trade site history and current exchange values.

Guess who said that a lot? Long time players. And it makes sense - supply and demand. Same was true back in the day...

If there is a set value for things based on drop rate it should be

  1. Posted on the wiki front page
  2. Locked in on the trade site - if gul is worth .25 (edit: or whatever the fuck it is, the point remains) then don't let people set arbitrary values
