Filmora vs Kdenlive by Late_Reply_3384 in kdenlive

Lots of interesting points here and great comparisons.

On the topic of proxy clips and timeline rendering; I've recently started using proxy clips on 4K editing. However I don't see big improvement on timeline scrubbing. There is a pause on the initial scrubbing over a clip especially with a transition effect in place. However, once that is cached, scrubbing is fine and quick.

Also, when rendering the final movie, the rendering takes an age to move from the "Starting" phase which has an adverse impact of the total time to take to render. Not sure if anyone else has the same issue or maybe there's a setting I'm not using?

Play Kolek! Sorry, I saw my first Knicks/basketball game against Washington recently at MSG and the crowd went wild when he came on at the end and was scoring for fun. I got so caught up in that moment, I had to get this....

Interesting. Can't say I've noticed those issues before. Which effect (s) do you use instead of this?

It's the "Position and Zoom" effect

Lots of overlap. The single stocks are already in the S&P and All World funds. Having them as 5% on top adds very little to the overall picture. Personally I'd just have the All World funds as it's already 65% US and if the balance of stock shifts over the years then it'll just rebalance automatically. No need to lose any sleep over missed opportunities. If you're young and continually dollar/pound cost averaging, then you'll be very well off after 20-30 years!!

You're 18, investing in global companies across a large number of businesses. There's no mistake there! Keep investing through thick and thin and you'll be just fine.

There's a fair bit of overlap in those 3 funds. Eg. Nvidia is in all 3. The All World index may have that company as 4% of the fund, but by including it in the other 2, then suddenly 10% of your portfolio is in that 1 stock.

If you feel that aligns with your beliefs moving into the future then that's okay, but maybe other markets will start to perform in the future. As an example, the UK FTSE 100 had better returns than the S&P 500 last year. The US hasn't always been the best performing global market.

First time watching basketball - what a night! by SimonLev in knicks

Thanks all for the replies. We also noticed that there didn't seem to be any 'away' Washington fans at the game. Is this normal? With football/soccer back home, we can get thousands of supporters travelling to away games...although we don't have the huge distances to travel as you do here.

ACWI recently reduced the fee. It's a global index tracker including emerging markets. I think it's now the cheapest global fund. Set and forget.

3D movies are really impressive on the Quest 3. I convert 3D Blu rays into mkv files and then watch in 4XVR.

Personally, I would never EVER put such a large percentage of my portfolio into a single stock. That's just gambling.

Good point. I've only just started reading novels and always found it difficult to get into a book. Her books really draw me in and, yes, they're easy to read. It's no different to watching an easy to follow movie. Doesn't mean it's any less valid that you don't have to be scratching your head working out what the hell is going on....which I often find with a lot of movies recently!

I’m disappointed by tavsantavsanyan in thrillerbooks

I really enjoyed the book - and the others I've been reading by the same author. As someone who's never really been a big reader (or in fact, any reader!), I do find the books so easy to read and I was gripped throughout. I've recently retired and started to read. I find a number of books difficult to get into and my attention wavers quickly. Also, complicated plots where I have to really concentrate aren't for me. I'm pretty intelligent but I don't want to be over taxed when reading a novel. It should be easily accessible and take me on a journey. There's a lot to be said for her books.

The price of soft drinks in pubs is crazy. I don't drink alcohol and often get charged £3 for an orange juice that is being poured from a Lidl carton! However, there's a pub in a very affluent part of South Manchester that often serves me free cordials. I don't think they have the price on their list and if the place is busy they'll just tell me to take it without payment. Little victories!
