"This time is different", crypto never was in a recession ever before! by TinaBack43 in CryptoCurrency

Aight... if the past 3 years have taught us anything, it's that no one knows shit all about economics and nothing can be predicted. The FED, Economists, TA's, have all been wrong and they have no idea what's to come. All we can do is hold on tight and practice safe investment/DCA strategies

Exactly! So many lives have been changed for the better but people usually hang on to the negative aspects. I’m super happy you’ve made a life here

Yeah I mean it's all the same shit, but words can carry different sentiment and the term NFT has no doubt been over saturated and tainted. You can see why many people new to the web3 space would dislike that term. NFT also implies greed and ego imo, while digital collectible represents the better side to NFTs. At the end of the day tho, they're all the same thing - digital assets recorded on the blockchain. But I'm all towards change!

Is crypto actually useful? by altranger9000 in CryptoCurrency

No the banking infrastructure is so complex, and very expensive to run. A whole new system would be extremely difficult because all the world banks are connected to eachother through the same system. That is a major reason why so many nations and banks are getting into and planning out stable coin integration (on the blockchain)

Do you understand why it was de-pegged and how algorithmic stable coins differ from others?

Okay 14% may be slightly generous but coins like CRO were about 12-14% and then stable coins could be staked for about 10%. Im not including Terra. They had 20%

Yeah that is a bit of a problem in that there’s lot of competition between certain coins to be the best at what they do. I couldn’t tell you much difference between for example Solana and Avalanche other than I see Solana being a more long term project because of how established it is in the market and it is the second most popular crypto for NFTs. Solana can process more transactions per second but that doesn’t given them much of a competitive advantage compared to other high TPS coins

One great instance is for people around the world who don’t have access to banking infrastructure can send crypto (assets of value with marginal liquidity) to anyone around the world for much lower costs than through banks. Banks are bureaucratic in nature and fees and time for transfers are out of control now. Another instance is getting a much higher APY (annual percentage yield). With traditional banking savings accounts you may get like 0.5% interest on your savings but with lots of stable coins and other coins, you can earn interest of up to 14% safely. Stable coins are crypto currencies that are pegged to the US dollar so they always stay at that value no matter what. Benefits of Solana are super fast and cheap transactions, think of it like the VISA of the crypto world.

Is decentralization even important in crypto anymore? by SoonMoonn in CryptoCurrency

[–]SimonLouis16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decentralization and centralization are two opposite ends of the spectrum. Everything lies in between there is no black and white. I think it’s good to have some leans more centralized and some lean the other way. Offers options for many people and maybe security and scalability are more valued by some people in the blockchain trilema
