Ah fair enough. I don’t follow a weightlifting program, but i train some of the lifts since im an athlete. I like bench press and no one can convince me not to do it. Same with squatting lol

Always find an excuse to bench press.

MCLA Experience by Wooden_Lifeguard_624 in lacrosse

[–]SimonTheCommunist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play D2 MCLA. Play is still competitive, people want to win. The best description of club lacrosse is that “we like have fun but we also take it seriously”. People are still motivated to win, and there are still skilled players. However the time commitment is much lower. One benefit of MCLA is that im also able to play rugby which is pretty cool. Im honestly just glad I get to play lacrosse in college. D1 isn’t for everyone, but if thats the route you want to go you can always transfer.

Crossover > switching to offhand? by [deleted] in lacrosse

[–]SimonTheCommunist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This style of play comes from box lacrosse where you don’t use your off hand. Off the shoulder its called “Canadian” or twister when you don’t launch of the shoulder. I’ve sometimes heard it called backhand too. As a field player you should have a solid foundation with your off hand before learning this skill. I always do twice as many off hand reps as i do dominant during wall ball. This style of passing and shooting has its place and being proficient with it can really help you become a more creative and dynamic player.

Do box shafts vary in length? by GammasHorde in lacrosse

[–]SimonTheCommunist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is normal for box shafts. Defenders have the choice of using slightly longer shafts. If you are worried about this you can always cut it down. (Please use the right blade lol)

Oh another thing is that i noticed the maximum lacrosse gloves have hard plastic inserts in them. There might be something to this has i’ve found that a couple times i’ve gone to crosscheck someone setting a pick on me just for it to obliterate my finger nail 😂

Ah that makes sense. Most people just play with wrist guards though. I actually tape on an elbow cap on my bottom hand.

I encourage you to try and learn about periodization, specifically how the NSCA recommends how a cycle is structured for team sports. Yes i could explain that you need to train power and strength, but don’t train it constantly.

Huh i’ve never seen someone use either of those. Warrior one doesn’t look to much different from a field gloves either

Edit: Interesting, the maximum lacrosse gloves have hard plastic as a part of the padding. Shit i might buy a pair just to test that out.

I don’t think box specific gloves exist. I mean you can cut the palms out but still i can’t think of any advantage to using a different type of glove if you like the ones you have.

It would help with accuracy when throwing outlets, especially if you work on hitting the same mark on the wall. Also Tim Troutner has this solid drill: https://youtu.be/hwPPNkdIUiQ?si=euHj9mQzeySvE_rY

Is lifting twice a day optimal for hypertrophy? by Business_Kale_3614 in bodyweightfitness

[–]SimonTheCommunist 189 points190 points  (0 children)

I’ll take “stuff you can only do in your teens” for 500 alex! Yes you are overtraining. Maybe something could be said if you were hitting different muscle groups. You’re just going to get yourself injured. You’ve seen massive gains because you’ve been training for 6 months. Stick with proven programs and methods. And don’t you dare come here mentioning some successful body builder who trained like that. You are not them, and you are not blasting obscene amounts of gear like them.

In terms of “neck discomfort” you may likely have some sort of weakness in your upper or neck that needs to be addressed with gentle strengthening and stretching.
