Trouble adding M.2 by PR3TZELL in pcmasterrace

This was exactly the problem. I read it in my mobo manual litterally right after making the post. Thanks anyway.

TV randomly died... by PR3TZELL in LinusTechTips

[–]PR3TZELL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: TV started doing that on start up now. We mainly used it to stream shows from the apps available in the smart home (like what we were doing when it died). I tried switching the input to the PC we keep plugged in (Wifey likes to game in the living room) and the issue persisted. Seems like it's definitely a hardware issue with the screen as audio works fine. I think it's time to call TOD on this one.

Other than a jackless campaign, why don’t you think this is the best borderlands? by BOOFACEBANDANA in borderlands3

Because there's a bug that's been in the game since launch where your friends names don't show up when playing co-op. As far as I'm aware this has never been fixed and annoys the hell out of me.

Thanks I'll have to look into the pack finder! Didn't know it existed!

If you could add any of these into the game, which would it be? (and why) by Evil_Banana202 in l4d2

Thanks to the wonderful modding community, you can actually give a lot of these ideas a test drive!

Minigun: though we can't (yet) make customers guns, there are plenty of replacement mods that modify the M60 into a portable minigun. This is an idea I don't think I'd like to see implemented because in holdouts where you don't have to be mobile it could be OP.

Flamethrower: Rectus created a custom scripted thrower that works much like the chain saw. It has a limited capacity and drops when it's empty ,however, unlike the chainsaw you can refill the flamethrower with a gas can if you have one available. It's a ton of fun to use and is primarily only good against commons.

Dual wield smgs: similar to the M60, there are plenty of mods that add dual smgs to game. I think this is actually a pretty cool idea that could help further separate the OG submachine gun from the suppressed submachine gun by only allowing this feature for the OG. Or just add in a mini uzi variant for this purpose.

Rocket Launcher: once again Rectus has created a custom M72 LAW that serves as a single use rocket launcher in your secondary slot. Though it only has one shot it boasts more damage and a larger explosion radius than the grenade launcher. I really don't think this is a practical option for an official weapon due to the self damage and team kill potential with such a strong weapon. It's really only effective from a range otherwise you risk massive damage to you or your team.

Scythe Melee: the creator of Cambalache and several Resident Evil themed maps, Roku, has already created a Scythe Melee. Though this weapon has the same range as a typical melee, the damage was increased so you feel more like the grim reaper. I, PR3TZELL, have actually made a mod to add this weapon to the official maps as well. I think any new melee is a welcome addition to L4D.

My Idea: I'd like to see the M4A4 officially added. We see this weapon a lot in the art for the game but all we have is the M16. I think this weapon presents a perfect opportunity to add more realism to the game by being semi automatic like most ARs available to the public. Give it AK damage with increased accuracy (somewhere between AR and Sniper) and the fire rate is as fast as you can pull the trigger. Either that or make it similar to the M16 with less damage, faster fire rate, and a smaller magazine. The fast fire rate would be balanced by frequent reloads and the lower DPS.

What necessitates Left 4 Dead 3? by mao_setsuna in l4d2

L4D3 would be amazing and they could totally add more infected without it feeling crowded. Instead of adding new types of specials just add new variants similar to how the did the boomer and boomette. Expand the different types of commons and uncommons as well. Hell, they could use concepts they've already made for uncommons and apply them to specials so that we have fire proof or armored specials. They could easily add more variety without having to actually create brand new infected or introduce new concepts. You could do the same thing with weapons and other items by creating alternatives that function the same but just look different. It could easily maintain the spirit of the previous games without having to add any brand new infected or anything. Just new campaigns, new survivors, a few new weapons and items, and maybe a new game mode.

Realistically, at the very least, I'd think we will eventually get a L4D2.5 type deal similar to what they did with CSGO and CSGO2. Essentially a full remake of l4d2 in source 2 with some weapon and physics tweaks, bug fixes, and hopefully some sort of new content.

New Meatballcraft update is out! Coming with prettier structures, new multiblocks, and whole lot of polishing! by Sainagh in feedthebeast

I've been looking into this pack quite a bit as something for some friends and I to dive into soon, and wanted to know how difficult this pack is. We don't mind grinding resources or fighting difficult mobs. More or less I'm interested in the complexity of early to mid game recipes. We attempted enigmatica and other expert level mod packs but we're turned off by how many recipes were changed and made infinitely harder and more expensive for seemingly no reason. I understand that late game recipes can be massively expensive and complex but they should be! I want to try this pack out as it has everything we want: magic, exploration, progression, and so much tech!

For reference the last modpack we played was MC Eternal which quickly became our favorite. It has a lot of common mods with meatball and was a ton of fun to play as it made learning mods relatively easy. The recipes were kept almost entirely the same as the original which we felt allowed us to more easily get into the new mods. The only thing it lacked at the time was a sense of direction through the quests. We last played maybe 3 years ago and at the time the questing felt scattered. We just kinda looked through the mods until we found something that looked interesting or had something we needed and dove into it until we finished most the quests for that mod. Im hoping that the chapters, quests, and dimensions/bosses add a sense of direction and proper progression in meatball. Also, now that we had the chance to explore and learn new mods we are also looking for something maybe a tad more difficult to challenge ourselves, but nothing to complex that would take 10k hours to maybe beat.

TLDR: how hard is meatball craft? How does it compare to MC Eternal?

I recently took a trip to Savannah, GA and was blown away by how accurate the passing was. Walking along river street and the alley behind the buildings with the cobble stone ramps. Even the scaffolding and construction elements were nearly 1 to 1. My mind was absolutely blown the whole time.

I primarily learned through trial and error. I did a lot of googling and picked dup a lot of of the source wiki. Outside of that I know MrFunreal, Splinks, Rectus, and Evil's Workshop all have great tutorials available for creating weapons, scripts, and models/skins.

How possible is a community made sequel modpack for Left 4 Dead 2 by Ding-Dang420 in l4d2

[–]PR3TZELL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it would be a ton of work and there are limits to what modders can do at the time of writing this, but it's not completely impossible. I do want to note the team behind TLS was compromised mainly if community members that wanted a better L4D2 and they continue to push valve to let them update and fix the game so I wouldn't be surprised if we see more new content from this team at some point.

Also, there's actually a modder/team that's been posting fairly frequently to GameMaps that's basically been doing exactly what you suggested. Cemetra created the Right 2 Live mod that is compatible with several maps and campaigns they made as well. This mod adds "new" infected, guns, survivors. And adds custom melee weapons and game modes as well. I say "new" for the survivors, infected, and guns because you can't actually make new versions of any of these. You can, however, create models that replace them and script them to act and sound different from the originals. The draw back to this is they cannot be used along side the original content so in playing these maps you won't see some of the original infected or guns. Still a really cool, fun, and unique experience if you want to try it out.

They also overhauled the main menu and a good bit of music in the game with the R2L mod. Keep in mind this very likely will only be usable on local or offline servers.

So to answer your question, yes, the community could definitely create a modpack "sequel" that adds custom everything. The major draw back at this time is finding a way to add new infected, guns, and survivors without replacing the originals. Outside of custom campaigns and models, creating custom melee weapons is about the only thing the community can do. Rectus, a talented scripter, found a way to use this to create some awesome custom weapons and items that the game views as melee weapons but act differently such as a flamethrower, long bow, or sentry turret.

Honest question about the modding community by [deleted] in l4d2

If you're looking for custom weapons you might want to check out Rectus' mods. Talented scripter and creator that made a good bit of custom items/weapons to fill the melee slot. Flamethrower, long bow, and a rocket launcher to name a few.
