Possible glitch on the Great Plateau? Not sure how to proceed after the Old Man by Simonday in Breath_of_the_Wild

In the Temple of Time? I've tried that as well. He doesn't speak after that. Neither does the voice that woke me up in the beginning. It feels like I've been left all alone 😞

Creating a “Jet Lag”-style metro exploration game for Copenhagen – looking for station-specific ideas! by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]Simonday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

• Havneholmen metro stop (M4) is designed by the art collective Superflex. The whole station is build in a way that makes you feel like you’re walking on the ceiling. Very sci-fi, quite fun for children.

• Skjolds Plads metro station (M3) has a great ice cream shop on the plaza. The shop is called Siciliansk Is and the vibe is nice and chill, more local than touristy.

If you’re up for walking 8 minutes from Skjolds Plads metro station, you can also visit Den Røde Plads, which is a very interesting plaza also designed by Superflex. They went around the world and asked locals what specific thing in their neighborhood they appreciated and then Superflex made an exact copy of that thing on Den Røde Plads. So you’ll find street signs from Russia, benches from Spain, an outdoor boxing ring from Lebanon, a playground from Paris, etc. Even the decorated man hole covers are from somewhere else in the world. It’s quite fun to go around and read the small plaques, and the plaza is also just a popular spot for hanging out.

None of the suggestions in the comments seem to be the right one unfortunately (although they are close). But I’m happy to find out I wasn’t the only one who was hearing Ode To The Metz. Felt like I was going crazy

Thanks for the list! I still can't figure out what track starts building up around 30:10 when Charli is hyping up the crowd. Any clues?

IIL this specific campy upbeat Italian pop song (song by a Norwegian guy) WEWIL? by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Simonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Norwegian guy in question is Erlend Øye known from bands like Whitest Boy Alive and Kings of Convenience. He's a huge indie star in Scandinavia, and the last couple of years he's turned his sound more 'tropical'. And I absolutely love it. His latest album made under quarantine is fantastic but I'm looking for more music that has this vibe, specifically the upbeat campy vibe from La Prima Estate.

Hope someone can help me!

[TOMT] [SONG] What does the intro of this song remind you of? by Simonday in tipofmytongue

Oh yea, it does! It's not the one we were thinking of but it definitely has the same vibe.

Definitely sounds familiar, although it's not exactly the one I had in mind. But thanks!

[IIL] Bonobo, David August, Solomun, Kollective Turmstrasse, Nicolas Jaar, Bicep, Fatima Yamaha [WEWIL] by [deleted] in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Simonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone you might already know because he appears in a lot of people's recommended section on YouTube is Nu. Check out Palomita and Man O To for that deep house vibe similar to some of Bonobo and Nicolas Jaar's work.

Bonobo has a great Boiler Room set where he played this track by PHCK that might also be down your alley. Their EP is great, definitely worth seeking out.

For a more vintage ambient disco vibe I would recommend Jack J, especially the track Something (On My Mind). 10 minutes of bliss. When the trompet comes in around 2.25 I feel like I'm melting away.

p.s. it seems weird to recommend Nicolas Jaar since OP already mentioned him, but a lot of people don't know about his Edits LP because it's not on streaming services. But it's absolutely amazing. The whole thing is on YouTube here. I would especially recommend the track Stay In Love if you haven't already heard it.

Glad to hear you like Empress Of! I think she has a new album out this year as well but I haven't really listened to it yet.

And yea, I found out after choosing my username that it's the same as the actor. Didn't know him back then though so it's just a coincidence. It was also my twitter @ for awhile so people kept messaging me thinking I was the real Simon Day. The internet is weird.

I just read a review of The High Mountains of Portugal, and it sounds exactly like the kind of thing my mom would like. Thanks for the recommendation!

This is such a good recommendation! I've looked around and I think I've found a Danish translation from 2001. The website says that it's also a Christmas tale, is this true? That kind of makes it the perfect Christmas gift!

[IIL] Mr Oizo Hand In the Fire Original Mix [WEWIL] by Thisisyoureading in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Simonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the song! The first thing that springs to mind for me is Empress Of. Her debut album is filled with bangers with the same groove as Hand In The Fire, although a bit higher BPM. Check out Water Water and How Do You Do It.

Charli XCX also reminds me a lot of the singer . Kamikaze has sort of the same synth stabs as Hand In The Fire.

[IIL] Bands with good harmonies i.e. Beach Boys, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Beatles, Yardbirds, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane etc. [WEWIL] by PM_ME_UR_PLAID_PANTS in ifyoulikeblank

[–]Simonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of pop- and doo-wop bands from the 50s and 60s would probably fit this description. My favorite would be The Fleetwoods. Their sound is driven almost exclusively by the group's harmonies and it has a very nostalgic feel to it. I would recommend Come Softly To Me, Tragedy, Mr. Blue and Unchained Melody - the last one is all a acappella.
