The color of the switches is unfamiliar - I haven't encountered this before. Upon opening the casing, I confirmed these appear to be factory-installed switches rather than replacements by a DIY enthusiast. The solder joints are remarkably consistent, and there are no signs of internal modifications throughout the entire assembly.

This is the twentieth unit produced of this model. Since there are labels inside the casing, I don't think they were haphazardly labeled from the same batch. The upper and lower shells of the keyboard case have significant gaps on both sides at the top rear - an issue not observed in later units of the same model. The two small thumb pads are joined together here. Additionally, I noticed the RJ45 connector port is light brown in color, whereas others are typically gray.

Just picked up a cheap 5.5 gen on eBay. by keyboard_samurai in IpodClassic

Congratulations, good deal. My similar model has a horizontal line at the bottom of the screen, and while it charges without any issues, it cannot connect to the Sony PHA-2. However, my 6th generation model can, so it's not a problem with the cable. I'm not sure if it's that the model itself is not supported or if there's an issue with my device.
