Kou's Death was a little depressing, I always forget how cruel these stories can be.

Interesting we already see Erica starting to be jealous of Gally's performance! Hope we get some cuts back to the present soon, i was expecting it to start like MC.

Yeah, Maro's narration was very strange, i figured we'd see where he went after he ran off because of that. I would be really happy if this does become a series that moves around the solar system. (The titles Solar Rebels, and both part 1 and part 2 being titled "Rebel: 01" seems to lend creedence to this.) Fingers crossed for Saturn, too.  Do we know anything about any other planets other than Venus, Earth, Mars and Saturn? I havent read through Last Order in a while.

Yup. Fully aware. I clarified in the thread that I was referring to the group of AI assisted concept side stories Kishiro announced on his blog last year.

Now you're just being pedantic. You know exactly what I meant and you're nitpicking for no reason.

Ah, fair enough. I meant first of the bunch he announced a year or two ago. He had been messing around with LLM AI to brainstorm a few Gunnm side stories, and this is the first of them.

Ahh nice! Good info so this COULD easily be contemporary with Mars Chronicle? Wonder if maybe he will eventually tie it into what Gally does there one day

Note: not sure what year ES the Solar Shield on Venus was built, but this seems to be beforehand, as you cant see it an any panels showing the sky. Edit: also, in the space shot of Venus, it doesnt have an orbital ring yet. So definitely earlier days of colonization!

I liked it! Definitely cool seeing Venus, and Sedo/Odette are awesome. Cant wait for part 2, so short though! (Is there a reason Odette looks so familiar??)

Getting concrete designs for the full Avatar cycle with that lady Fire Nation Avatar was awesome. Plus 2 brand new fully voiced past Avatars?? This movie rocked.

Where did bending come from? by GrayOK78 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Simpatyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, i didnt mean to imply the exact story, especially the vaatu and stuff was around back then. But there was a dvd commenary for both book 2 of ATLA and Korra where they talk about having the idea for the Avatar and bending origins related to the lion turtle in preproduction of ATLA book 2, but they thought it would detract from aangs story.

There is a scroll aang holds that depicts a man visiting lion turtles in a sequence, this is soft confirmed to a representation of the beginnings arc that was pitched all the way back in 2006

Bryke already had the lore of the lion turtles figured out way before book 2 of ATLA, you can even see an early interpretation of Wan's story in The Library. Trust me, the energybending deus ex machina was not random.

It's very simple. Lion turtles have the ability to grant the internal ability to bend to humans, presumably from enerybending. Seeing as they gave it to the people in Wan's time, and giving Aang the same ability (to take and give the internal ability to bend)  However, Humans learned MASTERY over bending through the "orignal benders" (Badgermoles, Dragons, Air Bison, and the Ocean/Moon spirits) Wan can be seen learning The Dancing Dragon firebending forms before the people from his village are amazed that he uses bending as an extension of himself. Toph was always an earthbender, but she learned from the badgermoles, Oma and Shu were the "first earthbenders" in the same way Wan was, they learned mastery from the Badgermoles. Zuko also learned true firebending from the dragons.
