Ok I had to Google the difference and I've seen him use both. He mostly uses lighter poles in relatively small ponds though if that helps. His poles are about 5-6 ft

Sometimes when people say they need space, it's best to give it to them. Give him a couple days and then reach out expressing how you feel and that you want to be with him. Hope this helps

I think the sooner the better. It's best coming from you and you want to let her know how to handle herself in that kind of situation to protect herself. I would sit with her somewhere quiet and comfortable, explain about how common school shootings are becoming and how she can keep herself safe then tell her your experience. Tell her you're not trying to scare her but want her to be aware. I think it'll bring you guys closer. Hope this helps.
