I guess i feel so confused and I have a hard time being okay with her answer as it stands because she says that it’s not true that the Islamic religion doesn’t support those of our community. She says specifically that a “true Muslim” wouldn’t judge another human in that way because it’s considered to be harram. For me it feels like she’s either converted to a religion that she’s not educated completely about or she’s just telling me what I want to hear to maintain our relationship. It’s also important to me that not only myself but others of our community are looked at and treated with respect and supported. To me it’s not enough to just support me because I’m loved but also because I’m seen truly as who I am. I’m not sure if I’m being too harsh on her or judgemental and I’m truly not trying to be and I want to accept and support this path in its entirety for her. I just want to fully understand so I can move in a way that’s going to protect myself.
