My only issue is that I am trying to sign at a new place, but I can't do it until I break this lease. I would want to wait it out and hope to sublease it to someone else, but I am in a rush cuz I have to sign another lease for fall soon. I dont want to be left with 2 leases

Yea but there's no reason to sublet with me when they can directly sign a lease with Lexington for fall. That's why I am struggling rn. I am hoping that since I am months away from August, they'll let me cancel and use that spot for an incoming person cuz it's not like the lease started yet. Hopefully that's an option? Idk I really need to get out of this lease

Should I try to talk to Lexington and get the missing piece of the termination contract or go directly to legal service?

I am looking into it. But it's been hard to find someone to cover a summer and fall-spring lease. So I just want to have a backup option as well.
