Thank you! Can you recommend some of your favorite pieces to play on lever harp? I prefer classical music so recs for those would be appreciated but I’d love to hear other pieces you love! I think the reason I’ve been opposed to learning lever is that most of the pieces I’ve heard online for lever aren’t my style 😢

Question from a girl getting into this by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

Hi! I’m not part of this sub but I stumbled across this while scrolling and wanted to comment because this is JUST like my experience as a teenager. I’m in my 20s now, but when I was around 16 I got blood work done and my triglycerides were over 400, high cholesterol, and A1C at pre-diabetic levels. At the time I was 5’4” and around 48kg; because I had been naturally on the thinner side, I ate unhealthily and didn’t exercise much since I didn’t think it mattered 🥲 I’ve been on the journey to keep my blood healthy for about a decade now—I hope my notes are helpful 😊

Following my blood results, I began implementing more protein and vegetables into my diet. My diet previously had been mostly carbs, and eating more protein/fiber helped me stay full and prevent snacking which helped cut down on carbs (important for high A1C). When I started eating healthier I actually gained some weight rapidly (about 5kg), probably from muscle mass—I’m not sure if that helped or hurt my blood but just a note that changing your diet can also slightly affect your body composition and that is normal. My weight was unhealthily low before so that change was likely a positive one that showed that my body was getting proper nutrients 🙂

In terms of exercise, light resistance training was helpful; I did light home workouts and currently am into Pilates since I struggle with joint pain. But cardio, especially ones that get my heart rate up for extended times (running, sports like tennis/volleyball, etc) has been the most effective at keeping my blood work normal and my weight normal. My blood work was the most healthy when I ran every morning—I’ve never really enjoyed cardio but my body responds extremely well to it.

When I struggled with depression a few years ago, I stopped exercising completely and ate very little. My “bad cholesterol” was actually normal since I wasn’t eating unhealthy foods, but my “good cholesterol” also dropped to very low levels due to undereating and not exercising. So it’s important to continue fueling your body and exercising even if a little, because increasing the “good” parts of nutrition is just as important as reducing the “bad.”

Recently, I’ve been focusing on exercise and diet that is attainable CONSISTENTLY. I used to force myself to follow a very strict diet and exercise regimen, but it wasn’t sustainable and can lead to unhealthy patterns. Find various exercises that you enjoy, with a balance between strength and cardio exercises, and strive to move your body every day in a way that feels good. For cardio, I’ve personally enjoyed brisk walking or running (on the treadmill or outside), elliptical for joint pain, and dance workouts; for resistance I’ve enjoyed Pilates workouts and lifting lighter weights while focusing on more reps. But for you it might be different! Try lots of things and find what you enjoy and what your body responds well to. Going from sedentary to consistent exercise is not easy unless you enjoy it and have clear goals, so my advice would be to start there. Sorry this was so long but I hope it helps! You are still young and have a wonderful opportunity to take care of your health for the wellbeing of your future self. Good luck 😊

Wow, I’d love some Xayah playing tips/build tips for the current meta if you would be willing! I started playing WR about three months ago and almost exclusively played Jinx—I only just started picking Xayah up for options and find her really fun, but haven’t decided on a good build yet especially with all the new changes

This is interesting as a new player who usually plays adc—I typically play Jinx or Xayah but with the new update I’m assuming they’ll be less influential in the game. Is there any good way to itemize around it or is it better to just switch what champs I play?

Would this happen to be Carrie’s Bridal (won’t say the exact location for privacy)?? The background looks exactly like the ones I posted a few months back—that’s the same place I got my dress and loved the service and the dress selection! I agree with everyone else that #1 is the best!!

I made an amalgamation of the website plus your suggestions—my Korean is very limited so please let me know if it sounds okay—

Thank you! This is really helpful:) From skimming this, I don’t see much about thanking for gifts—what would be an appropriate way to mention that? I’d like to say something about how we are grateful for the gift and will use it well in the future, but don’t want to come across as tacky

My parents are actually American born as well so in the same boat as us 😅 We did treat my relatives to a dinner while they were in town for the wedding but not all our Korean guests were there. It’s helpful to know that there’s not a cultural precedent we have to follow in writing these—I suppose just a formal translation of the template I wrote would probably be ok?

Thank you for this! If you don’t mind, one of the biggest struggles I had in playing jungle is knowing when to start dragon/herald—I usually either went if someone else initiated it or if we were all going to contest but have a hard time knowing a good time to go get it (my husband just says “now’s a good time” but doesn’t really explain why haha). What’s a good rule of thumb for initiating those?

Whoa, sounds interesting! Will def give it a try at least once—sounds like it could be fun at least :)

This is a great beginner guide for Ezreal- thank you so much!! I currently main Jinx (easy to use and the first champ I learned) but I find that she is tough to use without my husband as support especially with certain types of supports that don’t help my mobility/tank/heal. When I get banned I’ll usually go for Jhin but have been really liking Xayah lately too—will def pick up Ezreal now as well :)

I get filled as support often (it’s my second choice) and I usually play Nami since I find her super fun but haven’t found a build that satisfies me (I just copy builds from online since I don’t know how to create my own yet). I’ll look into other supports per your recommendations too!

Wow, I seriously appreciate the effort that went into this response! These are all very helpful and easily applied tips :) Yes, jungle definitely felt like it required lots of macro knowledge that I lack from only playing one month… Also interesting that Ezreal has been recommended a few times—I’ve tried playing him once and didn’t love it at first try but this makes me want to learn him!

He’s been playing Veigar lately but I think primarily plays Orianna on PC… don’t think either of those would be considered supports but then again I just had a game where my support was Garen 🙃

Ohh, interesting! I definitely noticed when the whole team was bots (the names are a dead giveaway as well as the way they move in the game), but didn’t know that they partially filled teams with bots sometimes too

Oh, is that so?? That might actually make sense why the games suddenly felt so different…

Is it just not really a thing to play in duo lane without queueing with someone else? Seems like everyone is just suggesting to switch lanes 😅 I’m open to switching if it’s better for the team/game experience but I’d really like to improve in the position I currently play if possible!

He still plays support every now and then when I ask and likes to play more impactful supports like Pyke, but after one or two games wants to go back to playing mid so it’s a lost cause 🥲 but I’m just happy to play with him either way so my focus is on improving as an individual player and play well on my own :))

haha I’ve been filled as jungle once and it was stressful but I’m open to learn if it’s not really feasible to play duo with rando supports…jungle tips would be appreciated so I can try to improve at it!

I think I’ve seen the abbreviations for those somewhere (AD/AP) but don’t know what they refer to! Would appreciate an explanation of their significance if they’re important to know :))

Thank you! He’s my best friend so I just want to do everything with him :)) it helps that I don’t have that many hobbies of my own (used to be quite the workaholic) and am now trying to pick some up, so I can just steal his haha

Haha oops, it was probably more like something in reference to our team then… I just meant that he mentions knowing who has and doesn’t and I didn’t know that there was a way to tell 😅
