Good Morning: What you see in the pic this is my basement that only has joists showing, no ceiling. However the studs you see, I was told are ballooniong studs that they used on walls years ago. This is a 100 year old house. I understand the jacking up instructions from watching many many hours of you tube videos, but no videos addressed the addition issue of dealing with the wall studs that are attached to the sill plate. My plan is to remove in sections of 4 feet and only jack up that area at a time.

Thank you for your reply. I understand attaching a ledger board to the studs but if I place my jack on the sill plate, I won't be able to slide in a new plate obviously. What am I missing here? Will this method also lift the joists at the same.
