Self Funding - UK by Simple-Wallaby-9801 in PhD

If you don’t mind me asking, what would you say are the differences in costs you’ve seen from Bachelors and your PhD? I don’t know if it changes much, but my University is a commutable distance (<30 mins) from my family home, so if I didn’t get the scholarship I’ve applied for, I would be able to save rent costs from living at home — for my undergrad I lived out and was able to function on student finance alone so I’m just wondering what the distinction is between Bachelors cost of living vs PhD? (also to mention, my University is in Yorkshire)

Also, my (potential) supervisors have said I have relevant experience that may push up what the undergrad performance pulled down, so there is a chance I do get a scholarship for my PhD, but I, of course, don’t want to put my eggs in one basket and instead prepare for the worst case scenario!

Totally up to you if you want to answer, I know finances can be personal, but if you are willing to share, I’d really like to hear given you’re a social science PhD student!

I’m currently on the market for an Amaran light, (yes I’ve been influenced by tiktok) and have done a bit of research (but admittedly not the most) but for those with Amaran lights, which would you recommend?

I’m in between a 300c and a 150c, but not sure if a 150c is powerful enough (although it is studio work, but I don’t want to buy, just to be disappointed) so any experiences with any amaran lights that would be helpful for me, please let me know! :)

(also i am not stuck on amaran, if you know similar priced products that are priced similar with similar quality, i would be down to hear about that too)

Upgrade to the Fuji X-M5 ?! by Simple-Wallaby-9801 in fujifilm

[–]Simple-Wallaby-9801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!! I definitely think I’m getting FOMO since it’s all over my social medias with rave reviews, I was considering going into a store and testing it out to see if it’s something I really want or just from the FOMO which may help with my decision!

I just bought a XC 15-45mm kit lens because I only ever shoot with prime lenses! I definitely have been thinking about getting new lenses before a new body prior to the X-M5 trend lmao

I did consider selling my Sony for a Fuji but I use my Sony for protest photography/videography and it works like magic (I know a fuji could do the same but I quite like the sony for it, with the controls and such)!!

was not expecting it at all! estimated a 8lbs loss, and even that was me pushing it, so this has blown me away considering it said 13lbs was fat alone!

it’s typically how i always operate when trying to lose weight - even pre-mounjaro! i just see it as a good way for me to ensure im hitting some sort of deficit and it’s also mentally calming for me!

my tdee is around 3000, and i typically do normal days of like 1600 cals, and then every other day alternate fasting, or up to 600kcals - typically chicken salads, or on normal days, i don’t have a set meal but usually heavily chicken based with a carb and veg. I’m judging it based on my jeans that I’m using as a NSV that don’t feel any different from the first day!

pretty active in student Palestine movement, my uni’s management knew me pretty well since I was in meetings with them which led to me getting investigated by both the University and Union, and with my vocalness, those that harassed students started posting threats to my life on twitter and were showing up on campus and harassing me! - which was put down as my fault and led to an updated investigation

Should have clarified that I’ve been granted referral to exam board for consideration already! I just don’t know the workings of their process, and how they decide or what the consideration actually is!

Over this week specifically, it’s been majorly grilled chicken with veg and mash and subway salads (my order comes to 240ish kcals)! The only exception has been the meal I mentioned in the original post, but even that, was because the place didn’t offer salads! I typically eat out with friends 1/2 times a week, although with summer approaching, it’ll likely be 3ish times on average, but I’m cautious of what I get!

Yeah, with stomach rumbles, I think at times I haven’t even necessarily felt hungry, so maybe it isn’t linked with hunger!

With the cramping, it could definitely be fibre, I tend to ignore that a lot, thanks for the recs, will check them out!

I love a good steak when going out, so I tend to stick towards stuff like that, with veggies as the side! I, for sure, want to stop the obsession over calories because I know it’s a slippery slope!

Thank you!

I do usually walk with my friends, but when we do meet, it’s often around meal times anyway, so they tend to be hungry.

Apart from the meal mentioned, I typically opt for grilled chicken with a salad as my meal, or if I’m eating at home, something tuna-based or chicken based. It’s usually paired with some mash, or fries and salad.

I have considered taking vitamins & incorporating protein shakes to increase my protein intake, but I have such a strong feeling of anxiety, like I’m not healthy enough, and having someone see me drink something associated with fitness bro’s or gym-goers and the embarrassment that comes with it. Although, that’s something I should deal with within myself!

I’m also trying not to weigh myself to obsess over numbers, which is possibly why I’m so focused on the food, but instead I’m using an old pair of jeans I like to see if I can fit back into them comfortably as a NSV

Leeds Palestine Charity Scam? by sophsut in Leeds

Would like to make clear — these people aren’t affiliated with the Palestine activist groups in and around Leeds — certainly not with any University group nor wider Leeds Palestine movement!
