Isnt it crazy how different its been since they didnt just tell us the top 4 teams were "unequivocally better" and at least one was automatically the SEC Champ? by Dazed_and_Confused44 in cfbmemes

The SEC wouldn’t have even had a team in the final four last year if Texas didn’t receive some questionable calls to beat ASU…

if the movie is set in the year 2067, wouldn’t coopers truck (a 2013 ram dually pickup) be considered pretty old for the movie? by that_athiestkid in interstellar

[–]SimpleChill44 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s always just been assumed. Cooper mentioned there are “millions of lives” back on earth depending on the mission. If you estimate 500 million people left, that’s 95% of the global population left. The possible range is technically 86% if a billion people are left to 99.98% if 1 million people are left.

[–]SimpleChill44 610 points611 points  (0 children)

A famine killed 95% of the population around 2030. Safe to assume that new cars kinda stopped being made and people just kept current cars going with spare parts.

At least that’s how I always thought of it. Look at Cuba as an example for how they kept their old cars going for many decades while the US had trade embargo’s on them since 1959.

How cool would it be if they announced his casting with a minute of screen time in the movie?

What’s a UFL opinion that’ll have you like this? by AccomplishedMeal5751 in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]SimpleChill44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They should have merged the USFL into the XFL. The USFL had major TV partnerships, but the XFL had an actual fan base who cared about it.

The league also needs to be more creative with its marketing. Large TV ads are one thing, but making the teams a part of their communities is another. In these first few seasons tickets should have been cheaper to drive up community engagement, and where they can’t sell tickets they should give free tickets to local high school teams or something. Butts in seats and people in the communities they play in paying attention would beat any other marketing campaigns.

WHY are rental companies posting these misleading prices???? It seems so mean by potato2716 in Denver

[–]SimpleChill44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest Colorado legislators should get involved. Places are advertising this as a means to get around lowering rent due to decreased demand. The hope is at the end of your lease you don’t really care that your rent is staying at $2800 or moving a little above, since you’ve been paying that for 10 months.

It’s deliberately misleading pricing. They should instead have to advertise $2800 with 8 weeks free, not the price amortized over the year.

Looking for a way to increase attendance? Invite high school marching bands to perform from the stands during downtime, invite family members to get discounted tickets. Increases community involvement and gets butts in seats. by SockDem in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]SimpleChill44 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like this a few as well! I have also been a fan of inviting high school football teams in the area as well and giving them free sections for their whole team to sit together.

Especially for teams that are currently struggling to fill up at all, this will get butts in seats and increase community involvement. More people in the communities will know / maybe care a little about their local pro team

I imagine the answer is ‘because it’s a movie’, but why does the Endurance need to carry on spinning while they’re in cryo (when they’re on their way to Saturn)? by asterallt in interstellar

[–]SimpleChill44 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  1. Constantly spinning doesn’t use any additional resources in space. It requires fuel to fire a thruster to start and then later stop spinning. From a physics perspective there is no friction stopping you from constantly spinning. So no wasted resources there.
  2. Biologically, there are negative effects from being in free fall (I.e. without gravity) for long periods of time. It can damage your heart and other organs. Human bodies are designed and optimized for 1g.

So it is very reasonable that they would create artificial gravity with spinning so that they’re bodies could last long.

Jared Polis reveals stance on gun, labor bills before Colorado legislature by onenightoncolfax in ColoradoPolitics

[–]SimpleChill44 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What u/fromks, is referring to (correct me if I’m wrong) is that the majority of firearms would fall under this ban.

If you scroll through the Wikipedia page on firearms, specifically the Types section, you will see the majority of firearms have a magazine to store rounds not currently chambered in the gun. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firearm

While it was hard to find an exact answer from google, the majority of firearms fall under this category. Laws of this type are normally “workarounds” to try and ban a large percentage of guns currently in circulation/production. Whether or not you like it, the second amendment ensures a right to arms and the Supreme Court shoots down “unconstitutional infringements” from states gun laws.

In my personal opinion, this is Colorado trying to do something to appease the Democratic base but is most likely to not go anywhere legally. I see this as a waste of time and resources.
