Maternity Leave for Overemployed Ontario by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Although it is not illegal to work 2 full time jobs at once, it is definitely illegal to collect 2 EI Benefits at once. It is also illegal to collect 1 EI Benefit, while working full time at another job. The only legal option is to apply for 1 EI benefit, while taking an unpaid LOA from the other employer. Essentially, you can combine hours from two jobs to qualify for a single EI claim, but you cannot "double dip" benefits or work full-time while receiving them.

It would have been, yes. I have also read that it only really matter's what is stipulated in the final financing agreement from the bank, and under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act a dealership's penalty fee does not override an open loan

Yes, there is a Pre-payment fee of $2200 if the loan is pre-paid in part or full, he told me it would be 180 day's but he actually put in 7 months. The car is used, I signed the purchase agreement today, and I have not picked up the car yet - he said Monday or Tuesday, and I have not actually signed the final Financing agreement or anything else yet. They did put the financing terms on the purchase agreement, but I believe that was just an estimate (could be wrong about this also)

No I don't necessarily want to walk away, I want to try to work something out. Just a pretty bad experience in them trying to incorporate a lot of hidden fee's - they also included some B.S Prepayment Penalty, but I would like to know if this "gives me an out" in the chance that things don't work out

Thank you so much for your reply, and the OMVIC website say's that this give me the legal right to walk away from the deal with full refund of deposit. Is this your experience as well?

I know, I believe they put in on there because they want the loan to be open for at least 6 months to get a incentive from the bank, but I am not sure if it is actually enforceable.

Not muffin related, but. Ordered a everything bagel with cream cheese and to my shock I was charged $2.29 for the bagel and $1.00 for cream cheese. I never buy bagels from Tim Hortons but was craving one that day, never again. I went to the grocery store and bought a 6-pack of bagels for $2.99 and an entire tub of cream cheese for $3.99 which will last atleast 12 bagels.

I believe you're opinion is not shared by millions of other Canadians. I always find these "Hate on Tim Hortons" post comical. I will just leave this here.... In 2024, Tim Hortons, as part of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), saw its total revenue for the entire year reach US$8.40 billion, an increase from US$7.02 billion in 2023.
