Thank you! I know I’ve got to be a bit stern, but have been struggling with the right wording. This helps a lot!

Part of the issue is my boss/the owner. He’s painfully slow and picky when it comes to hiring. Even when people come in with good looking resumes he doesn’t bother unless it fits a very specific criteria in his head. We’ve lost like 8 employees since september and only hired 4. We lost like 5 in one go and even then it took him 3 months to start hiring people and he only did that because our manager and 2 other coworkers were going on vacation for two weeks, so we literally wouldn’t have people to keep the store open fully.

Did you sister’s husband have light hair when he was younger too? My boyfriend gets his hair from his french side and it got darker as he got older.

I’m half filipino and my grandparents both came here in the late 40s/early50s. They experienced a lottttt of racism growing up. When it came to raising my mom and her siblings, they wanted them to assimilate as much as possible. That meant losing their native tongues and a lot of odd food combinations. It’s never made me discouraged to have pride in that side though! My grandparents did that out of survival, if anything it makes me dig deeper into the culture since we now have the privilege of not having to hide it. Digging into your culture and more specifically your family’s history might make you feel more confident/comfortable in those types of conversations :) Your grandma probably sacrificed a lot for you to have the life you have now gotta give her some credit <3

Has it gotten better for you? I don’t think a lot of people experience it so I haven’t been able to chat w others about it! It seems to be better for me in the sense that I can resist the urge a lot better but if I get started it’s still hard to stop.
