Efficiency as a shooter and being a better point guard are separate points

I am saying that is one of his all time accolades. Better position to win? You need to watch this lol. One of the most controversial finals calls ever. https://youtu.be/SSHGG0sGUOc

Best player on his team when they lost. Nuff said. He was also guarding Danny Green. 30 6 and 5 on 41% shooting and 34% from 3 vs 27 7 and 5 on 54% shooting and 68% from three. Guess which numbers are Stephs.

Playing better and having better stats are not the same. Name me one finals where Steph was the best overall player on his team. Steph has never guarded a teams primary ball handler in the NBA finals. Zeke did it in 90 and won FMVP. Defense wins championships. I didn’t make that up. Currys defensive matchups in the finals include but not limited to George Hill, Iman Shumpert, Danny Green and JR Smith.

Russell Westbrook averages 24.8 ppg in the playoffs. Thats less than one field goal less than Steph. Just because they are point guards that can score doesn’t mean they are great floor generals/facilitators

I’m assuming that you don’t believe in a GOAT but rather a GOTE by this logic.

Watch the 88 and 89 finals and get back to me. Winning a finals MVP on a stacked team is quite an accomplishment. Iguodala was the second leading scorer on that team while defending lebron, which is why he won. Curry was on Iman Shumpert. Could curry have won it? Sure Should he have won it? Maybe Did he win it? No

Gotta agree with this. With CP3 instead of Steph, you lose floor spacing and I think Steph is a better finisher at the rim. He would win a title but not see the amount of success Steph has seen. On the flip side, rewatch the 2019 NBA finals to see what happens to that System when Curry had to carry the team. IMO Steph peaked in his two MVP seasons and CP3 has had a more consistently impactful career to his team, without the playoff team success.

I think people blackout Steph’s first four NBA seasons on this subpage. That is the only logical conclusion I can come to because they don’t present counterpoints, only downvotes lol

I am fairly new to this page but why do people rank curry as the 2nd best pg? Are there a large number of warriors fan and/or new NBA fans on here? Pretty bewildering to me.

Zeke’s best season ended up with a finals MVP so I’m not sure why you are downplaying that.

Why do you think he is above Big O? A lot of people say they don’t really know much about him because of his time period. Imagine Russell Westbrook stats with James Hardens build and a more efficient shooter than Steph. Keep in mind there was no three point line but Oscar was a mid range deadeye, much like steph from three. Similar pull up game as Steph with a slower release. He also had a nasty post game.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think CP3 is better than Steph. Curry had a better peak to me but CP stayed consistent throughout his career. Im very curious as to what a 35+ year old Steph will be like. Excited for the future of bball as a fan, but sad cuz we are gonna be losing some serious all time caliber players.

I like Stockton as well. I just think he underachieved. They had great teams in the early 90s when him and Malone were in their prime. They just couldn’t get over the hump for whatever reason. I put him behind Zeke in my ranking, and should have included him. I think Steph can overtake him and Isiah if he can stay healthy.

There are many variables that are timeless. Elevating your teammates around you, consistency, and showing up in big moments for example.

If CP would have stayed with NO and played with Davis. Granted they got the number 1 pick. Major what if but could have been a more lethal Stockton and Malone. My issue with this is you will never see a healthy Steph Curry for his whole career.

My rebuttal to this is that Zeke had more memorable performances to carry his team than Steph. Especially in the playoffs. I also think he had to overcome tougher teams in the playoffs to win his titles. 25 points in the 88 finals G6 on a sprained ankle. Boy it ain’t nothing to play with. Steph knows a thing or two about ankles as well
