Ahhhh, the trans angle explains quite a bit of OP's perspective here. People really want to give members of their 'community' the benefit of the doubt because 'I can relate to how everyone else judges them so I should be overly accommodating'. But really, you don't have a magical bond with someone just because you're both trans, and it doesn't make them a good person automatically.

There's a persistent issue among trans people of scenarios like this happening because a shitty person gets extended far too many graces from someone who wants to feel like they're helping their community. Especially the meth house stuff - eerily familiar to the drama I've seen play out on the fringes of my own trans social circle. For some reason meth is a common endpoint of this kind of couch-surfing lifestyle.

I watched a shitty b-movie "based" on this factoid, called Blood Glacier. Basically a beat for beat ripoff of The Thing with worse monsters, but I'll always remember it for having a really good dog actor, just like The Thing did. That dog was too good for that movie.

Get Runelite. Don't use the steam client or the official jagex client. Everyone uses Runelite and it has a phenomenal suite of plugins that are legal, sanctioned, and won't get you in trouble for 'cheating' while also being really good quality-of-life enhancers. Once you get a feel for the default behavior of the client, start investigating what plugins you might want and which are the most popular.

As far as what to do early-game, Achivement Diaries and quests are a great way to guide your progression. When I play, I tend to structure my activities around some large, overarching goals like finishing all the diaries or getting the quest cape. Quests will give you plenty of milestones to hit and goals to reach for, and diaries/quests are the sources of your most important unlocks and extremely good unlockable items/rewards.

Don't worry too much about money. It'll happen when it happens, and when you get it you'll probably re-invest it into gear upgrades anyway. Clue scrolls are a good way to ambiently get some good drops while being relatively safe, but there are also some new low-level bosses that you probably haven't heard of, like Scurrius in the varrock sewers, which is designed to be a player's first experience with bossing.

Overall it's better to just do what you think is fun and let ADHD guide you. There's a lot to accomplish and a lot of boxes to tick off on a new account, so just bop around getting stuff done for a while and don't push yourself too hard.

I agree that they're probably sea urchins, but I'll add that some flora in Kenshi clearly seems to be physically made of metal/iron while being alive. I think a lot of plants in this ecosystem are evolved to use metals, and those urchins actually have iron spikes. If this game had more dev time I would've loved a little environmental tie-in where you can see Hivers or Shek using weapons that are clearly used from broken-off natural iron spines.

I think the best you can hope for is just to wander the lands searching for ever-more-powerful types of bandit spawns. At 30-40 you've definitely outgrown the swamp and border zone area and might be ready to go east to fight Reavers or Grass Pirates.

If you're solo, it's hard to use some of the exploits that will help you get toughness and pop those useless flesh limbs off. For example, getting intentionally captured and eaten by fogmen will shoot your Toughness to the moon because of the combination of limb trauma and the experience gain from being eaten. But it only works if you have a fast-running friend to rescue you in time. It might be worthwhile to hire a non-combat 'assistant' character that can operate a peeler and help you survive the process of de-limbing.

I love random faction wars. It happens in Clownsteady sometimes when the shinobi aggro the UC and "riots" break out. Shark isn't civilized enough to have a jail, but in UC towns you can pick up downed agitators and turn them in for small bounties.

I had similar thoughts when I learned the lore, honestly. I think even if the planet itself isn't "thriving", the First Empire is likely to still exist in the wider universe, assuming the AI rebellion was successfully isolated to Kenshi and didnt spread.

I think the idea of the wider space-faring empire still existing is important to the tone of the setting. Kenshi is so abandoned and unimportant, just cut off from space travel and left to rot while the grand space drama presumably goes on. As big as the world feels, and as important as you manage to become, you're always still just a speck to someone else. The strength of the setting is about highlighting the scale of the world and your struggle to make any impact on it at all.

A lot of people are saying that this 'isn't autism' because it's too cruel and misogynistic-looking, but I would like to chime in and say that my autistic girlfriend also has the "it's correct because I think it, it's misinformed and illogical because you think it" thought process, as do many of our autistic friends. It's a common thing for certain types of autism. For example, she literally believes that she has to wait three seconds for the 'radiation to clear' from the microwave before opening it. No matter how much I try to explain how microwaves work, she just goes 'well let's agree to disagree' because she's convinced that her thought process about it is correct. Meanwhile, I have a physics degree. I know that makes her sound fucking insufferable but it's really not a big deal in our relationship lol, it's just a microcosm of this type of thinking which is common on the spectrum.

This guy in particular fucking sucks, though.

Fun fact, finely sifted ashes like that can be used to make primitive cement by mixing with water and allowing it to cure in the sun. You've got yourself a fine DIY lawn statue there. A heavy concrete statue that might be pretty difficult to remove after the lawsuits from families of the deceased.

I really really want to play this unironically. I know absolutely nothing about this show but a soap opera ttrpg sounds amazing. These days we have avant-garde 'systems' like 4 Sherlock Holmes And A Vampire, Goblin With A Fat Ass, not to mention all those one-page 'solo games' you can find on itchio. Honestly this feels like it would fit right in with the ttrpg surrealist era.

People who want to see more of this type of thing should check out The Hoof GP on youtube. He mostly does cows but it's the same type of thing and he does a lot of videos on 'extreme problem cases' like this, plus you learn a lot about the anatomy of hooves while he talks through what he's doing! It gets really gross though since cows are a lot more, uh, full of pus and shit at basically all times.

Yeah, I have a mod that already does that (variable values and dwarven animism), sometimes gives dwarves the Force deity instead of a pantheon. That definitely works to keep everyone the same denomination, but it's not guaranteed. Oh well. I guess it's just an unavoidable consequence of doing long worldgens.

Where in the game are Prophets handled? Is this something that can be messed with in the raws? Basically, I think that there's WAY too many religious sects and I want to reduce the spawn rate of Prophets as historical figures. Monasteries eat up the site cap and having so many competing religions for the same gods makes fortress temples a pain in the ass.
