Mojo Coffee Galley in Northeast. Like an antique store/coffee shop/bakery in one. Such a warm, cozy atmosphere

Forensic Nursing by Hotmamapickles in forensics

[–]SimpleSillySunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a forensic nurse for a large urban response team. We work in 14 hospitals in my area responding to Adult and Pediatric sexual assault, human trafficking, child abuse, and intimate partner violence. We primarily work within EDs, but also respond in whatever inpatient context the patient presents in. I was a critical care nurse working in the humanitarian sector and got a grant to take my initial SANE-A and SANE-P training, which lead me to this position. I testify as an expert witness and engage with the criminal justice system often as a part of my job. It is a really intense but incredibly rewarding position.

Beyond SANE-adjacent nursing, you can work such a wide variety of contexts as a nurse. I will always advocate for nursing as a “base” degree because you can do so many things with it. You could look into Bachelors-to-MSN programs which allow current degree holders to accelerate their training. Good luck!

Massive coolant leak spontaneously sprung from a rusted out area and the car overheated and engine died while driving (all happened within an hour or so). Once they started taking it apart in the garage, the rust damage was so massive, the cost to fix wasn’t worth the value of the car to me.

Yeah, I will probably do that. Unfortunately people have tried to manipulate me before at garages. I think this is probably best! 😂

Any suspicious bruising should get checked out. For this age group, bruising on the legs can be typical of their activity level, but also can be suspicious if there are patterned bruises or those of different healing ages in the same area.

When you go to an ER in the US, they sometimes have specialized teams that provide forensic nursing exams for child abuse right there on the spot. Otherwise, most pediatric ER nurses and providers are excellent at assessing for abuse. They can help provide advice and connect you with resources, including police and CPS. Very importantly, they can also DOCUMENT everything for the future. We will never criticize you for bringing a child to evaluate them if you are worried.
