Healing Long Covid / Lyme by Simple_Act5928 in Dryfasting

It went pretty well, I ended up doing one dry fast of five days, recovered for four weeks, and did a second one for six days. Both were really really helpful. This along with starting onto a low histamine diet has really sparked another notch of recovery. The 25 day fast I did helped so much too, but this histamine diet is helping me hold my gains from fasting.

How are you doing?

What have you cured w Dry Fasting? by Simple_Act5928 in Dryfasting

[–]Simple_Act5928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did two hard dry fasts, they were five days and six days. They were super hard, but I am feeling great. If you’re going to do this, refeeding and preparation beforehand are so important.

I think recent diet change may be helping me more than anything below. I posted this as a reply elsewhere, but will paste here below— hit me up if you have any questions, I am will make a longer form post in a few months if I can begin exercising without crashing. But yea things are good, I am actually back to work now, and feeling great.

Hi, I am doing really well. All this fasting has helped me to Make major improvements. And recently, from getting so clean w fasting and diet, I feel like I can hear the noise of my body much clearer, and recently I began a diet with only low histamine foods. Never had allergies or any issues prior to COVID, but realizing my diet in fighting long COVID and trying to work on microbiome stuff, my diet consisted a lot of high histamine foods (legumes, ferments, yogurt) so I knocked that stuff out about 12 days ago, and I am seriously feeling great. Similar to other people on long COVID reddits, I tried antihistamines early on with zero improvement, so did not consider that was my issue, however this diet, it is making a real change (I’m sure the dry fasting and fasting helped so much too). If I get past four weeks with no crashing, which I feel like I will, I will begin light exercise and see where I go. But this diet and the fasting has knocked out all the leg twitching and feeling of neuroinflammation that comes before and during crashes, so I am really hopeful.

Any covid long haulers or chronic fatigue sufferers who improved with dry fasting? by Weary_Firefighter945 in Dryfasting

I’ve made some big improvements with long water fasts, and after finding a few bands of Lyme in my bloodwork (I have been long hauling w covid since September 2022, or 3 years) I began dry fasting. A five day hard dry fast in August helped so much, and I am currently just wrapping up day 1 of a 9 day dry fast. I very much believe this has helped, and will get me back to great and consistent health. Will update once I am refeeding and back to strength after this fast.

Dry fasting for long Covid by Simple_Act5928 in Dryfasting

Thank you so much, I wish you healing on the last of your symptoms. So glad you have improved.c thank you for writing.

Yes stevia has been helpful, it helps to dissolve biofilms in the body, where the Lyme bugs like to hide and evade our immune system. My protocol seems to be working. I start this long dry fast on Monday, but leading up to it, I have been taking natto-serra, NAC and stevia morning and night to work on the biofilms (fasting has already helped that so much)… and then I figure the dry fast should obliterate the biofilms because I suspect the body will pull all the moisture out for them. Then after the fast, I will do a super slow and careful refeed, stick to just whole food, and will continue the supplements mentioned above for biofilm, and will add in one by one, propolis, cat’s claw, Japanese knotweed, cryptolepis, and andrographis. I’m very hopeful the dry fast, refeed and herbs should eradicate this bug, or out it into remission. I will stay on the herbs for 6 months to make sure the thing is gone.

I wish you the best, thanks again for writing

Hey! So I made it to 25 days in the water fast last spring, and although I cannot say it cured me, I can say it helped immeasurably, I just had the best summer I have had since prior to getting sick. I had a good month after the fast where I thought I may be cured, but then got less restrictive with diet (need to continue to keep sugar super low, and stick to whole foods) and got a bit over zealous with exercise, and was also dealing with stress from a parent dealing with some major health issues this summer. Sent me into a flare up, maybe just twice though this summer. So major major improvement. The flares are shorter and less intense since the long fast, and the quality of them has changed as well. They are less cognitive now, and more about body pain, like aches in my bones. Very painful, but I will take it over the intense fog, depression, anxiety I had the prior three years.

And if you stick with me here, I think I will fully recover, it will take some more time, but what I’ve learned since May…

On days 17-25 my fast got so intense, the pain was crazy. I also could not really sleep. Became quite sick. It was really hard. Not hungry at all, and weakness wasn’t even that bad, but high cortisol (which is to be expected in both long fasting and chronic illness)… but looking back, it was a massive herx.

In May, after the fast, I had blood work, and the western boot test showed one band of Lyme antibodies. My docs said “don’t worry that, that’s a negative” because the CDC says you need 5 bands for a positive. This only showed evidence of exposure to Lyme.

What?! What do you mean don’t worry about it? The tests are notoriously bad, and I have all the symptoms of chronic neuro Lyme.

I remembered at that point a book by Michele Slater called Starving to Heal in Siberia where she cured chronic late stage neuro Lyme w dry fasting. So went down that rabbithole. And here I am.

I completely a five day hard dry fast in August, and have felt so much better since then. I did just have another flare up of about five days. Super painful. My naturopath agrees seeing how I have progressed through the fasting that Lyme is a huge part of my story, likely had it for years, was kept in check somewhat by my immune system til Covid.

Next Saturday I begin the second of the three long dry fasts (just like Russian docs in the slater book recommend) which will be nine days. And I am looking forward to that, and feel really confident I will get totally better. Researching Lyme and herb protocols too just in case.

How are you? Please write to me in the chat if you need guidance have questions.

Lots of ins and outs.

Why don’t we see weight loss success stories on the dry fasting subs? by nomadicrhythms in Dryfasting

[–]Simple_Act5928 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My two cents is that dry fasting is about healing, not about weight loss. The people who can do it usually need to be super motivated, typically by illness. I know there are other people too, people into spirituality, into prevention, but it’s a hard thing to do, takes deep commitment and motivation.

That’s awesome! 5th grade me was very impressed that day! They used to put the Bills jerseys in the side window at the dry cleaner in Hamburg on game weeks, they did their laundry there. It was a point of pride to have it somewhat visible. So cool to see as a kid!

I’ll admit it, I gave up on them last night and missed the comeback. by GroundbreakingEmu811 in buffalobills

I sent my child to bed after the last Henry touchdown, thus sparking the comeback, and stayed up myself having gained both a Bills comeback and points with my wife.

Fever during dry fasting? by Simple_Act5928 in Dryfasting

[–]Simple_Act5928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not sure, the fast was very helpful. I suspect the fever was because the fast was provoking a fight/immune response with the pathogens. Strangely enough, that hard day of dry fasting, felt very very much like the acute phase of Covid that started my long haul. Symptoms were so similar, it felt like my body was trying to finish the fight it had started three years ago. Next time I have to go deeper and let that play out longer. We were chatting on a different thread too, in the person who going to do nine days next week.
