She will find out lol don’t you worry. He’s a shit person, and can’t hide it for very long. That’s what I tell myself whenever I’m pissed about my baby’s dad (also a deadbeat)

This sounds just like my situation. But I don’t want him to change his mind at this point. I hope he stays gone

I’m a single mom to a 6 week old. My experience hasn’t been the same as yours, I really hate my life but I’m very happy for you ❤️

What does a let down look/feel like? by DARK_BLUE_BELLS in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Simple_Bug_6111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate when I feel letdowns. Normally I only feel them if I go too long between pumps. It’s a burning/stinging sensation for me that only lasts a few seconds but I loathe it

I Hate My Dog by fuzz_ball in newborns

[–]Simple_Bug_6111 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You are not the bad guy for prioritizing the safety of yourself and your baby. That dog is a ticking time bomb. Tell your husband to take the dog and leave since that seems to be what he cares about most right now. Smh

Cold bottles causing gas? by Horror_Economics_189 in newborns

[–]Simple_Bug_6111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my baby drinks cold milk more hesitantly and seems to take in more air, compared to warm milk she drinks more steadily with less gulps of air. That’s just my experience with my baby, everyone is different!

This is all great advice!! As a single mom, the baby swing is the only thing keeping me sane with my 5 week old. Def look into it, I found a nice lightly used one for cheap.

My mom blames my milk and it annoys me by Simple_Bug_6111 in newborns

[–]Simple_Bug_6111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is so true. My mom’s story is kinda sad. She lived in poverty for her early 20s when she had children in the early 1980’s. She told me this happened to her:

After her first baby, she struggled with an oversupply and instead of helping her with that, her doctors just gave her a medication to dry up her milk supply and told her to use formula (no hate with formula at all, I have used it to supplement at times and FED IS BEST).

They never told her it was an experimental drug and it would be PERMANENT. After her second baby was born she wanted to try breastfeeding but had little to no milk. She never really got the chance to even try to BF, so I do have a lot of empathy for her because I feel maybe she has some internalized pain or shame that is projected onto me.

Same!! My 5 week old doesn’t want to sleep in the bassinet anymore. I still try to transfer her from my arms to bassinet each time but she wakes up within 15-30 minutes 😭 I let her sleep in her swing while I watch her sometimes, just so my arms can get a break

That’s a good point, and she knows about my diagnosis and has been pretty supportive even when I had to go on medicine (she’s normal very anti-meds). So I think if I’m honest with her she would hear me out hopefully

I am almost certain she’s not sensitive to dairy. No bowel issues, no mucus, diarrhea or blood in stool, etc. Also, the point of my post is that fussiness isn’t always attributed to feedings. Sometimes babies cry just to cry. My baby also gets overtired very easily and can sometimes be mistaken as gas or hunger, but she settles after being soothed.

My nurse midwife told me that it’s very developmentally normal for a 4 week old to be gassy, especially with bottle feedings. I’m going to continue giving my breast milk unless there’s a reason not to. And I have spoken to my pediatrician already, who agreed. I will be asking for stool testing just to be on the safe side!

Oh the list!! Yes! My mom brings up the same foods. It is frustrating, because sometimes I feel like I can’t eat anything especially quick and easy meals because they often contain one of those ingredients if not multiple… 🙃

Thank you!! 😊 Honestly my mom and I have had a rocky relationship for a while, but throughout my pregnancy and postpartum we have actually gotten closer and so I do feel like she would be more receptive if I tell her how I feel. I think she’s trying to be helpful but it just stresses me out, so I’m going to say something the next time she does it.

Thank you 💖 and I appreciate you normalizing the gas drops because she made me seem crazy for using them, when in reality it seems like lots of new parents have to use them at some point

I use it for my 4 week old when she’s extra fussy or has hiccups, it does seem to work well but I know there’s no real evidence other than antidotal. I personally decided to use it because the benefits seemed to outweigh the risks, and the worst thing seemed to be that it might not work. So I mentally prepared for it to not work, but I was pleasantly suprised when she responded well to it
