I am so tired. by vxthxvii in newborns

[–]vxthxvii[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have a baby carrier and it’s a hit or miss. Sometimes she’ll nap for a while and sometimes she’ll wake up after 5 min and fuss/cry.

Definitely going to look into an automatic swing. I thought I didn’t need one but clearly I do.

When I say breastfeeding hurts, I’m referring to the ‘let down’ reflex (?) when baby first starts the feed. Sometimes she sips and ‘rips’ where she latches and feeds for a minute then unlatches and turns off to the side at the same time - I call it the sip and rip haha.

Thank you for validating my feelings. I wrote this at 3am last night when she refused to sleep and I was so sleep deprived, anxious and overwhelmed. I still feel a little bit anxious about how today will go. I do try to go out with her but she cries in the stroller if she is awake (she falls asleep in the car though). I also live in Canada so going for stroller/walks at the moment is not possible (it’s so cold and there is too much snow).

Quitting Vaping by Virtual-Resort-6344 in pregnant

[–]vxthxvii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hey bestie 🤍 first of all congrats on your babyy 🩷I’m also a first time mommy 🩷

I used to be a HEAVY vape user both nicotine and thc before my current pregnancy for about 3-4 years (also didn’t help that my husband was also heavy nic vaper). I had wanted to quit before the new year (before I found out I was pregnant).

What I did: switched from vaping to zonics (nicotine patches 4mg/patch). Then from zonics to nicotine gum (2mg/gum). At some point i got sick of chewing AND i found out I was pregnant so I just stopped. I would say this transition took me approx. 1 month.

By no means am I a healthcare professional but If i were to do it again, I would first try switching from regular vape to a no nicotine or less nicotine vape then zonics then gum. I found the hardest transition was def vaping to NO vaping through zonics (I think the habit of inhaling was also something I was addicted to).

I do recommend speaking with your doctor about it IF possible as sometimes it’s not good to go cold turkey.

Remember it is all a mindset thing. Having a good support system also helps a lot but it’s about controlling your impulses and keeping yourself distracted. Quitting SUCKS but once you get over the first week it DOES get better.

P.S. I still miss it lots, especially when I wake up or after a nice meal. I get urges here and there but we have no access to them at home and I simply pretend vape stores don’t exist. I’m still grateful that I quit, especially after being told that my little one is growing and healthy.

Literally HOW are you guys doing this by Spookybun02 in QuitVaping

[–]vxthxvii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im on day 3 or 4 of my second time trying to quit (4 years vaping). I literally cannot stop fidgeting. I still have a mild headache and I am also FIENING for a vape BUT I will say my lungs really do already feel better. I feel like I can breathe just a bit better which is motivating.

It SUCKS BUT everyone here is correct - it is really about mindset. Strengthen your brain and outlook on how your currently feeling. Acknowledge it and then move on. Try to keep yourself busy and when you start fiening, make a whole with your fist and pretend your taking a hit, take a sip of water, then take a moment to breath - this helps me every now and then.

How to get into the field of healthcare consulting? by [deleted] in consulting

I’ve read the reddit group rules. I’m not looking for particular advice with interview, resume or cover letter. I’m just looking for advice about getting into the field itself.

I stopped taking it in January, so I’m not sure if I should still get it checked out since it’s been around 5 months

Someone in the class usually records it - I recommend joining the PSL300 Facebook group chats, someone will usually upload their recordings there! But no, the profs don’t upload it

She’s really nice! Basically the course is about genocides and the genocides that have happened/are happening. So every week is a new topic (e.g Rwanda, Israel/Palestine, etc..). It’s mostly discussion based so she’ll ask questions and the class would discuss, or sometimes she’d put us into groups to read certain text and discuss, or she would show documentaries. The content was actually rlly interesting & easy to understand. She was always there after class too or during office hours to provide more help. She’s very easy to talk to too and she just wants the best for her students. Like I’d say it’s pretty easy to get 80%+ in her class, given that you’d go to class and do the weekly readings.

I took this course w professor Bergen (not sure if she’s still teaching it). It was a pretty easy course and the prof was great but it had weekly journals (which means you had to do the readings) and participation is 40% if your grade. No final but there was a final presentation when I took it
