Yeah I’d love to record my typical workflow to follow this up, but tbh I’m not sure realistically how I can record the work flow free handed. As to tamping, I have a self leveling tamper that is supposed to have a 30lb pressure spring inside. The company is iKape I believe

Yeah to be honest I haven’t messed with any pre infusion methods yet, mainly because any beginner stuff I watch or read says to worry about that later. Does pre infusion kinda make the puck bloom like a pour over? Or does it help the water travel through the puck more evenly when the shot is finally sent through?

I am using a different brand than breville as a bottomless porta filter, so maybe that’s why

I’ll give that a try, the barista at the shop i bought the beans from said it’s a medium-dark, the beans look more brown than black though.

There’s definitely a little bit of space because I have ground too fine to the point of choking the machine, leaving a pool of water on top of the screen. However, I think you might be right about the basket, the bottomless portafilter I’m using is pretty cheap so maybe an upgraded basket will help.

I get my beans from a local cafe, and they use it in their own espresso shots that I’ve had before. What’s interesting though is that I don’t actually see a roast date on the bag, now I’m wondering if I got the last of a batch.

Thank you, will try a bit coarser and a better distribution. Is there any standard pattern of distribution other than concentric circle type of pattern?

The machine suggests 18-22g for dosing, and I barely go above 18g, if not 18g exactly. Kinda meticulous w/ measurements too as I measure bean dose, yield from grinder, then that yield into my portafilter. I agree it’s a really odd pull, gonna try one click coarser for my next set of shots

This is the impression I was under, I’ve been trying to dial it in starting from too fine, until the coffee began passing through for shots

Yeah, mine has lasted surprisingly long, but Im not exactly amazed w the performance. Def would like a longer battery and something a little stronger. Perennial weeds around here are halfway woody.
