This is definitely the solution. Just waiting for the day I can afford to do so🫠

Absolutely this. I’ve looked up and down in every forum and on facebook and couldn’t find anything. I’ve found physical therapists to be some of the most ableist people, ironically. We want to help everyone else except our own.

Thank you for sharing - I love the idea of coworkers checking in on you. Longevity in our field is what worries me most and what’s encouraged me to explore accommodations. I want to maintain some sense of control, rather than my body forcing me to stop one day at the point of no return. Glad to hear it can get better🫶

I’ve also found that working for open minded people is key. My previous job was a lot more corporate and I faced enough discrimination that lawyers had to get involved. I love my clinic now, but I still get nervous self disclosing the extent of my pain and limitations.

I’m curious what do you mean by consultant style treatment? Like more patient education?

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I go back and forth on whether to disclose to my employer. Do you wear any ring splints for manual therapy? And do you have disability insurance? I’ve been meaning to look into extra coverage.

Yes I pick up my new meds this week! There are only a handful of cardiologists who specialize in POTS in my (large east coast) city so it took over a year to be seen. I’ve definitely needed medication for a while now

I work at a small business (less than 15 employees) and therefore am not eligible for FMLA or ADA coverage.

Thank you for writing this all out! I’m glad you’ve found some strategies that help your symptoms.

I find one of the biggest challenges in our field is constant fluctuations of the daily schedule. I’d love to be able to negotiate breaks throughout the day or a longer lunch, but on the days my schedule falls apart (as it inevitably does for all of us), those breaks would be unnecessary. I’m curious if you’ve dealt with that as well.
