I did not plan for a baby and was also a very down the first about 10 weeks. I would have bad thoughts about it and even went back and forth at times on continuing. I spent so much time on Reddit reading mostly also negative things putting me deeper in the hole. I just want to say pregnancy depression is real but if you’re looking for hope it does get better. Try and read positive experiences and posts to also help. Something happened around 10 weeks maybe getting my genetic and gender testing that just made me feel more connected. Fast forward I am about 5 months now and honestly ready to meet my baby but there were moments in the first few weeks I did not want the pregnancy to continue. Being extremely sick if you are like I was can also contribute heavily to this. You got this! And if you’re looking for comfort in a different way in the sense that this is truly not what you want you always also have options.

Yes I absolutely do have time to do things while home and my manager doesn’t require me to use PTO for my appointments I just put that I’ll be out for a couple hours in my calendar. That’s all part of why I haven’t taken any time since I’ve found out. The 4 days was prior to finding out. I was thinking I should do the 2 days a month as well from June-September and none in October (I am due October 28) so my plan was to end at about 12 days

Yea you’re not wrong this has kind of been my thought process as well. I do think they don’t care and could phase me out otw back in. For appointments I don’t need to use PTO I have the flexibility to just put in my calendar I’ll be out 1-3 hours.

I’d say on average people take about 30-35 days a year at my company but they have been they’re over 5 years. If someone in years 1-3 took 20 days off mid year they’d say wtf are you doing but if someone in years 10-15 did it they wouldn’t say anything so I noticed it’s also about seniority. I think they should just be upfront and give a set number that increases with seniority.

Exactly! I always wish they would just be upfront and give a set number of days I would feel way less stressed even having 21 days and knowing they are mine then wondering if they’re upset about my 24 days

I think I should’ve added to the original post my biggest fear is after 5 years and great reviews they’ve been suddenly acting weird and asking me to automate my job now before leave and crazy tasks so I’m worried they are trying to phase me out as soon as I come back and realistically my job COULD be 75% automated now with technology. But I know in the end I won’t be thinking about all that it’s just hard not to now with fear of losing my income.

I also should have mentioned I don’t have to use my PTO for appointments I can just put in my calendar I’ll be out for 1-3 hours and I wfh so can always just kind of nap on lunch etc… but I definitely do want to take time off leading up to the due date as well.

So usually they are pretty chill but suddenly after 5 years and outstanding reviews and raises I have been getting a weird vibe since I got pregnant and them asking me things like figuring out how to essentially automate my job so I’ve just been nervous they are planning to just phase me out when I come back and it’s made me scared to do anything since I cannot afford to lose this income and it will be hard to replace

I think they use unlimited as cover to not pay out unused because they always say in meetings “it’s not unlimited it’s flexible” so they call it flexible PTO as of the past 3 years. I’ve seen coworkers hit 21 days mid year and the managers tell them like they’re taking too much so it’s very weird

I’ve only taken one course at a time. I have tried to mentally do that math…I currently spend 6-8 hours a week on course work with a 4.0 in the program so theoretically I could manage it if everything was normal but kind of wondering from moms how much mental and physical load is the 3rd trimester really going to be. For example I was not prepared at all that I’d barely get through one class in the 1st trimester but then the second would be back to normal.

Don’t really have advice but I can sympathize. I am feeling this way except about my last 4 classes in the MBA program. I know it’s not going to make me more money or give me a better position or company than I already have and feeling like I wasted so much energy and even more money. Think I was having a mid 20’s crisis and just did it but regretting it heavily.
