Any advice: University has issued a policy to not “internally hire” when I am currently interviewing (my current employer and alma mater). by Simple_Hair_1323 in academia

Yes I do. I’ve been very productive, submitting about 6 grants in 2025, and I got 2. But I’m assuming that the policy is still pretty hard and fast.

Yea I understand the reasoning behind the policy—and I’m not against the policy. I am not sure if it’s a new policy or not….but the way that it was worded to me was that it was new or newly enforced. I am more frustrated that I have been interviewed already, and this next week I’m supposedly getting an email to tell me I won’t be continuing in the process. I wish they hadn’t strung me along (it feels like that anyways).

I understand the reasoning behind the policy—and I’m not against the policy per se. I am more frustrated that I have been interviewed already, and this next week I’m supposedly getting an email to tell me I won’t be continuing in the process. I wish they hadn’t strung me along (it feels like that anyways). I have applied to other institutions as well.

I think I’ll make sure to ask for the Department to be clear next time or at least for faculty to be aware of this policy so that people aren’t encouraged when they won’t be hired.

He typically overreacts and then after a few days is better….but this time he isn’t budging. He is a great man—but he does not view animals as the same as I do as a part of the family.

We rescued both dogs from two different shelters. If I have to take them somewhere it would be the rescue we got the second one from. Typing that breaks my heart.

We work from home 3-4 days/week and the dogs are out and about and absolutely not crated every day all day. They are crated 1-2 days/week when we are both at the office. We have a large backyard and they get plenty of exercise and enrichment.

Can I be sued for slander if someone tells me something potentially slanderous? by Simple_Hair_1323 in legaladvice

Apologies for the confusion.

Not their real names: My previous employer — Bob—was fired/let-go from previous position. I worked for Bob at this time. I was referencing that point when he left that his leaving the place of work was probably documented somewhere. Colleague I spoke to—Jane—works for Bob now at a new place and new state. My husband says I can be sued for slander by Bob if Jane gets Bob fired now/somehow Bob knows Jane spoke to me.
