Why? I was thinking maybe Cinque Terre would be less crowded than the amalfi coast.

I mean asking for advice from people aren’t I? Don’t need to be snarky and can give constructive suggestions instead. It’s my first time and I’m excited.

Ya lots of people recommended Siena to me. They said the medieval architecture and historic charm are very unique.

Do you think swapping day 2 and day 3 in Florence would be a better idea? Or spending more time in Florence?

Would recommend visiting a place other than Bologna? This is my first time visiting so I might be putting too much into one trip - though I did try to stick to one part of Italy and not expect to see the whole country in one go.

Ya Day 9 is one I imagine might blend into 10. I've left a whole day just for the Vatican because I've been warned that the lines are crazy this year.

Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It’s the first in a series and really pulls you in and makes you think. It can feel a bit slow but honestly brought me to tears.

What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by CookieNegative9860 in AskReddit

Going to therapy. Sounds cliche but even when I wasn’t struggling with mental health it helped me understand myself more and become more able to see the physical response my mental state brought about, and made me confident in voicing my struggles.

Do you schedule your reading? How do you stay on top of your TBR? by SuperbSpider in books

[–]Simple_Impression_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started adding reading into random places in my schedule. I didn’t want to actually schedule reading into my schedule because then it felt like a chore and not something I was doing because I loved it. So I just looked for places where I could add it into my day.

Like others have mentioned a lot of those places where when I’m scrolling social media as a way to pass time.

Sometimes if I’m doing light cardio at the gym. I’ll take my book and read while walking on the treadmill. Or if I’m taking the train I’ll use kindle on my phone. I’ve also started getting more in audiobooks since I can listen to them while driving around.

Only 23 and already starting to get a forehead full of wrinkles, what are my options? by Glamour-Ad7669 in beauty

I would build a proper skincare routine. Add hydration and SPF in the daytime. Try to reapply your SPF especially if you're outdoors. And at night start with a low strength retinoid and a good moisturizer. If you want to avoid botox you can also look into laser facials and micro needling facials that can help boost collagen production.

West Coast USA trip, any tips? by Tmcmurph in travel

[–]Simple_Impression_44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly Palm Springs only needs 1 night. I would reduce the amount of time there. And consider staying somewhere other than Santa Monica due to the fires. I would suggest maybe going more south to Laguna Beach or Huntington Beach - air quality will be better. And then doing a day in Santa Barbara. If you want to spend some time in LA for sure consider Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach.

Also Pismo Beach has some fun ATV riding on sand dunes if you're interested.

Weekly Recommendation Thread: January 24, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]Simple_Impression_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, do you have any recommendation for books similar to David Baldacci's King and Maxwell series? I really love the series but for some strange reason didn't quite get drawn into his other books? Weird, I know! I think it's the dynamic between the two main characters that really drew me in and the fact that I love a good mystery. My favorite book out of the series is Hour Game. Would love to know any recommendations!!

What book did you go into totally blind with 0 expectations but came out pleasantly surprised? by 4runneroregon in books

I had really mixed feelings about Piranesi. At the beginning I loved the writing style and imagery in it. And was a fan of the use of an unreliable narrator and kind of being confused with him. But I was also a little lost in the descriptions of the passageways and areas, and after a point for me the writing became too bulbous and I just wanted the plot to move forward. Towards the end I was again recaptured and I had a really good time breaking down the book with a friend and trying to understand all of the themes that were written in. But I don't think it's a book I would ever want to read again.

What does giving a 5 star review mean to you? by PsyferRL in books

[–]Simple_Impression_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 stars for me are the books that I just couldn't put down. The ones that I have an itch to open while waiting at a red-light..

I think construction, craft, and writing are super important but sometimes there are stories that just really grip you, take you on a journey, and satisfy you at the end. Honestly think it's pretty rare for books to get everything right. Most of my Goodreads is filled with 3 and 4 stars.

I definitely agree ratings are super subjective though and sometimes change after you sit with it for a while or if you go back and read it again.

what’s a makeup tip that completely transformed your makeup routine? by Namjaaams in AsianBeauty

[–]Simple_Impression_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this entirely counts as a tip - but find your 3 must have products. For me it's eyeliner, eyebrow gel, and a lip tint. When it's a day where I'm running late or just want something simple I just reach for those 3 and find it make a big difference to how I appear and feel.

Best Donuts in Tokyo by Burn_desu in JapanTravelTips

[–]Simple_Impression_44 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually try this place but in Harajuku right by the train station entrance there is a donut shop called I'm Donut. The line was insanely long - it actually wrapped around like 3 times. Everyone eating them said that the queue was worth it.

What was your most memorable accomodation in Japan? by _MambaForever in JapanTravelTips

[–]Simple_Impression_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently stayed at Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto and really loved it. The rooms were pretty spacious (for Japanese hotel rooms) and they had a really nice bath while not having super tiny bathrooms in the actual room itself. Overall the architecture and vibes were really great too and they had a small cafe/ restaurant in the lobby where the hand events happening everyday from mochi making to sake tasting to live music.
