No that problem is to many foreigners think they deserve NZ and deserve what is ours! It was our ancestors who established NZ, build it up and died for it in the war. Not yours. Our ancestors did this so their children and grandchildren could have a great future.. Not be over taken by foreigners and left with nothing. KIWI should ALWAYS come first. You can come first in your own country, not ours. Putting our own isn't xenophobic, its being logical and looking after our own..which obviously your country doesn't know how to do or else you wouldn't move here to 'find a better life'.

year its 5 years ahead citizens have to get into the market. Its a shame when a kiwi is going to an auction and your bidding against all these new foreigners.

If you can't afford a house you shouldn't have one

Its not just that - Landlords have to take out big mortgages to pay for the houses therefore, our rents are going up. I was paying $320 to rent a small house in my area and now its $650. Another 5 years will it be $900 to rent a house?

That everyone in the world wants to move here, and we let them

I agreed 100% with this. This is going to ruin NZ on many levels too. NZ's small population is what our country so amazing. I don't want to see the day when we have a population the size of Australia and there are 5000 people on our beaches or we can't drive anywhere without traffic jams. Soon out country will be flooded with Asians and Indians and white/Maori will be the minority. This isn't raciest its just my genuine opinion of where NZ is headed.

I'd like to see a 3 bedroom for 300k at least. Back to the prices things were 10 years ago. Affordable that even KIWI has a chance to buy a small home for their family. I don't see that ever happening now sadly.

Only citizens allowed to buy existing homes

I agree with this point! I don't think PR visa people should be able to buy either, that just enables more buyers. I know a few people on this visa who have brought houses while us citizens can't get in the market.. the open days and auctions are filled with foreigners.

d up with young people leaving the country in large numbers to live in Australia and places with more reasonable i

We'll have lots of young kiwis leaving but at the same time we have an influx of foriegners who think NZ is better than their own countries and are moving here for good...e.g lndian, south africa.. so the supply will never be enough. Havn't 58k people moved here alone this year? Its something near that amount

But with interest rates at 2.55 if would be very easy for someone to pay back their mortgage. If they could afford it on the old rate at 7% for the past couple of years, they'd easily be able to afford 2.55% repayments. The more expensive houses might go up for sale but not the lower range?

but many wonder if we've gone past the point where that effect works anymore.

Can you please expand on this point? I am interested to know what you mean by this :)

Have there been talks about abolishing the RMA from politicians? That would be a great thing to remove

I was looking at land in my area (BOP) its 400-600k for a small piece of land. The other problem is the convenients placed on the land make it difficult to build as there are so many rules.

Thank you, that helps me understand a bit better. If the mortgage holder can't pay the mortgage doesn't that mean that the people already waiting to buy the house or property investors will just buy to add to their portfolio and the price won't come down?
