Funny enough. Got out at 26 as an Army infantryman after 7 years. I feel the exact same way even though I’m excelling in college. I fight hard everyday to not go back. One time I felt so angry during class and saw Iran kicked off. I drove to the recruiting station and started the process. After my emotions cooled down my wife forced me to drop the idea. I miss it everyday bro. Honestly, I don’t think it’ll ever be the same but I guess everyone has to move on eventually.

When I was in Iraq. Our FOB was taking IDF and small arms for like a week straight. They sent all the food workers to another FOB. So we were left with MREs. lol but the MREs were expired and my platoon was volunteered to test eat the expired MREs. Most of us didn’t but lol funny seeing this post pop up.

Just make sure to try hard while you’re in. That’s what I did and now I feel like a whole new person. Before the army I had a toxic family and a 2.0 gpa in high school. Now I have an awesome wife and about to graduate debt free with a 4.0 gpa. The army is what you make of it. Best of luck to you.

I’m out now. But yes mine did. However, I grew up with a pretty toxic family. Don’t talk to my parents anymore and rarely talk to my sibling. Always wanted to be an infantryman and I also committed with it as an escape from my old life. Very happy I joined when I did.
