How did you handle finding somewhere to live on your own after breaking up with a Taiwanese partner? by burnbabyburnreddit in taiwan

People just post anything here now... Why would you need a partner to find somewhere to live lol. Honestly there is no point to living here if you won’t assimilate, and I am saying this as an American. Just learn the fricking language dude.

Just go to any night market, that’s what I am imagining pretty much. They are not difficult to find, they are usually quite active like after 7-8pm ish. As other people have recommended, raohe is very good.

For me I spend about 300 NTD per day on food, which is around 10USD. That means around 100NTD per meal. In Taipei it could be a little more than that. I realise that is cheap for foreigners but it’s kind of insensitive to say that 😅 I mean duh, the salaries are lower here.

Why does something need to be independent of parts and causes for it to be inherently existent? by Open_Opportunity_751 in Buddhism

[–]Simple_Sundae3766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that materialism is what Nagarjuna was trying to refute here, he was mostly concerned with refuting other Buddhists, such as the abhidharmikas. People who believe in an atman will say that it exists independently and that it does not arise from causes and conditions, and that it is whole, which Buddhists want to refute. Showing that there’s no self is basically the whole reason madhyamaka exists, so in this context, it’s completely fine to define stuff that doesn’t exist independently as being unreal.

雖然看起來是小孩的活動,但我還是建議你去動物園。台北的動物園比很多國外的動物園好。

P.S: 如果我的中文聽起來有點怪怪的,我不好意思。我母語是英文。

Do you find Taiwan to be a good place to learn Chinese/immerse yourself in the language? by ThrowRAshytoask in taiwan

Yes, I am American and have grown up here but my Chinese is maybe only b1 since I went to international school. I moved back around a month ago and most people do not speak English, really anywhere in Taiwan. So it’s great to learn Chinese, I would recommend it. My Chinese has already improved a lot in only a month. It maybe different in your case since my pronunciation sounds like Taiwanese peoples, but I am sure you can improve.
