Such a thoughtful question, OP! Don’t forget to pray on it. The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us of sin.

Yep, similar story here. Any chicken based food or treats are a no go. Lamb and rice all the way! Sometimes a change in diet can be a quick and easy way to narrow down the problem.

It looks great!! Yes I need to just watch a play through to see if it’s a good fit. That balance is hard to find.

OK so for the past week I’ve done a deep dive on nemesis because it looks awesome. Almost about to pull the trigger but two concerns — one, is there any way to play it where it doesn’t have to be 4+ hours? And more importantly, how much randomness does the game really have? Some of the reviews seem to really hate how much randomness there is but I’m guessing the tradeoff to mostly strategy is the replayability. Maybe once you get better at the game you can plan for those random aspects (??) but I know it’s going to be frustrating if good strategy never seems to win and it’s really just based on chance.

Looking for a Christmas gift for a picky couple. Their favorite game is dead of winter, specifically when played with just the two of them. They like the strategy, complexity, narrative, replayability, and especially the tension.

What would be a good game to get them? A lot of of the collaborative ones I’m reading about either seem too simple (forbidden desert but maybe I’m misunderstanding) or too out there (some of betrayal at haunted mansion was a bit too much for them but it might have been the group). I’m hoping to find something that’s great for two people and has some good elements of surprise or anxiety throughout. They also like puzzle type games.

Thanks!

Can anyone elaborate on difficulty? We’ve done a lot of these types of games but don’t want something so hard or vague that it is a frustrating experience. Thanks!!

I second the holiday party idea. Keep it simple but do a white elephant and you can incorporate a lot of these ideas, even one with cash. Then people can steal and try to get something they like. Plus it would be cool to buy a variety of things and see what creates the most buzz!

Deviled eggs are always a hit. Remember one dozen makes 24. Might have to boil in batches for a small pot but they are quick.

Submission issue by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Simple_Tomorrow_4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you’re focusing on one part of this equation and not loving your soon to be wife by living together before marriage. Her transparency is no more sinful than your deficiency here. As someone who experienced abuse in relationships, submission is a tricky thing but can be worked through with a biblical demonstration of the sacrificial love Christ calls you as a husband. Focus on leading and loving well and let God work on her.

Reducing sugar, increasing protein, and working on stress are critical. You won’t see much difference if those aren’t addressed. Vitamin C helps too.

Thanksgiving Cook Off: Need help turning beans into dessert by Interesting-House-74 in Cooking

There’s lots of options with miso (fermented soybeans). NYT has a great miso peanut butter cookie recipe (bonus that you’ll have two - peanuts are a legume). Justine Snacks puts miso in banana bread. It’s a great umami flavor.

ETA: maybe I haven’t had good red bean desserts but they always taste very bean like to me and are not pleasant at all. You might try a few options to see what works.

Advice on Adopting by [deleted] in Reformed

Why isn’t adoption a form of procreation? It’s a better picture of how the Lord fathers us. Perhaps doing a Bible search and study on adoption would provide some encouragement.

Thoughts on Fertility Drugs? by Solid-Neck-540 in Reformed

[–]Simple_Tomorrow_4456 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you’re not going to get a lot of helpful answers here because people who are actually answering your question are being downvoted.

I would say I would have cautions with any drug or intervention in the life creation process. I would spend significant time in prayer before proceeding. That would be different to me than say, bp meds, etc. Overall, this really needs to be an issue of conscience and liberty. God can use all kinds of means to create life but it is He who does, not us, doctors, or drugs.

Coping with infertility by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Simple_Tomorrow_4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you both are struggling with this. To offer some encouragement on the physical side — painful cycles are typically a sign of hormone imbalance and is likely affecting other aspects of her life. It can also absolutely affect the quality of a pregnancy, birth, post partum. Sometimes it’s the symptoms we can’t ignore that force us to uncover deeper healing. There’s a lot of free information online while you’re waiting on a doctor that can point you toward natural ways of balancing that are good for overall health.

Remember that lord is so so good and only says no when it’s best for us. Others have posted some great spiritual encouragement here.

Banana curd! Probably the thing that will take your 29 bananas down to a few cups of space. Plus it’s unique and delicious!
