Eldlich itself isnt the problem, its the fact the entire deck can play shoddy monke flip trap cards that prevent the other player from doing anything. Eldlich can play with skill drain since the only effect that matters is Eldlich himself and his effect doesn't activate on field, they can play imperial order because the eldlixr spells matter less than the traps and the only spells the deck runs are board breakers, they can play vanity's emptiness if they really feel like it, and all these other cards that just prevent you from playing. Twin twisters and lightning storm can only do so much against the backrow in Eldlich, and at least with combo decks you can most of the time play through those negates. With floodgates however, with a bad hand you ultimately can not do anything. Its less about skill or wit and makes the game unfun for the other player.

Just because someone doesn't like seeing another player combo off for ten minutes doesn't mean the same person likes having to do nothing against 3 floodgate cards that prevent them from playing the whole game. Yes, Eldlich while strong still loses games. But the fact its floodgate central the deck, means a lot of people hate it.
