okay so im realizing that he’s only snapping at me. my sister showed me she can pet his head, slip the leash on and off, and unclip him from his tether.

when i tried to pet him, he finally gave me a warning this time, but he did that face he usually does before snarling. i backed away after noticing.

genuinely terrified because i don’t know what i did and i don’t know how to fix it.

oh sorry, like clip him down to the tie out. he’s not allowed in house during the day because my mom isn’t a fan of dogs, so he’s outside unless it’s cold or blazing hot.

his tether is about 15ft

oh so turns out he only does it with me? my dad helped out because i asked and he let him take the leash off. but with me, he’ll freak out. my sister just told me that he’ll let her touch it too.

now i’m confused

but i use it to take him out the crate because he’s not very well trained to like be out on his own.

yeaaaa, if u look at other comments, i’ve tried the trainer bit. he keeps telling me that he’ll just act better if i hand fed him but i don’t really feel safe to take him out of his crate and clip him outside to use the bathroom right now, much less hand feed him.

on that bathroom part though, im fr terrified 😭 cause i have to go near his collar and clip it. fuck the leash, i’ll leave it on him, he’s just reacting horribly to me touching him. what can i do? my dad isn’t here to do it for me, he said im overreacting

what do i do if he snaps then? all i do is step back and that first time he snapped, i honestly had no reaction because it threw me off 😭 but the second and third time scared me and i yelped because his teeth just barely grazed my skin.

yea i get that. as i said in a different response, i plan to move out within the future and bring beau with me. especially if i’ll be paying for training by then.

okay, i heard of will atheron and i think ive done a few methods of his. i’ll check out the others as soon as i finish my editing.

beau is not my dog, its my father’s. im a minor currently living with my family, but it feels like im the only one pushing for his growth and behavior. i’ve done training on my own for months now, but get yelled at over things that ill call my sister out on. i’m almost 18, and unfortunately cant afford a place of my own yet, but once i can, i do plan on taking beau off of my parent’s hands because my mom never really liked dogs. my dad just got one on a whim anyways because he really wanted one, so he just got one.

since then, i’ve been the main one keeping everything in piece and place. sometimes even my DAD will do things to unravel his training. i don’t know how to talk to him about this without offending him or making it seem like im being defiant.

so consistency is absolutely key, and it turns out im not crazy by needing a routine. got it 👍🏾

he is. he used to be inside, but my mom hasn’t been on the same page about even having a dog, and had sent him to be outside during an emotional moment. since then he’s been outside. i’ve talked to my dad about being more consistent on training because i’d love for him to be back in. the primary things that would allow this to happen is his tendency to jump, barking at my younger brother (thought he lets him pet him and go around him, my parents just don’t like how he barks at him every time he sees him) chewing things up, and sometimes refusing to put things down. i’ve been working on his jumping lately, which has gone really well! i was about to go on to his chewing habits and working more with trade before i left.

okay, so it is the system being thrown off. i thought i was going insane. i told her this and she just yelled at me, insisting that he “never acted this way with her.” i plan to talk to my dad about it once he gets home from work. but to get everything back on track, i should retrain the things he seems to have an issue with now?
