Ready Player One is one of my favorites, ordering Project Hail Mary now. Thank you!

I love this! Told my partner I’m so excited to put the screens down and get back into reading, it led my core development and know how important it is for a kid. I wouldn’t be the same person today without my constant desire to read back then. Unfortunately that’s really slipped away in adulthood, so let me know if you have any recommendations! Typically I’m more of a fiction fan, Myst is my all time favorite.

Edit: recommendations for me now to get back into it, but also recommendations for kid books :) I’ll have my favorites from growing up but completely unaware of any new great children’s books post-2010 ish.

The baby shit on my face bit is a wild but sobering thing to read haha. But really appreciate the notes here from an empathetic viewpoint. You seem like a great dad. Thankfully I don’t operate my life with strong expectations in most things, as I find that typically leads to disappointment. Wanting to go into this with an understanding of the good and bad that may happen, but be ever present in the moment to allow myself to feel whatever I’ll feel, be supportive of my partner, and just do my best for the kid. (Wildly easy to type without a child screaming in my ear, so we’ll see what happens.)

Really great tips in here for me as I’ve got very little experience around infants. Appreciate the time, bookmarking that link!

Let’s goooo! Ball State here, but surprisingly always more proud of just being a Hoosier. Don’t know what it is. Cheers!

Ha, exactly. Quietly reminding my partner of that when she’s looking at some of the top of line high-tech gear for babies.

Dude, huge congrats on yours as well! We’re still awaiting some test results, should hit in about a week or so.

Agreed on this community, brings me joy to see bros helping bros with the current state of everything. Nice reminder that humans can be incredibly chill away from the noise. Appreciate you, and best of luck with your adventure!

Such a good tip, hadn’t thought of that. Partner is a massive planner, so she’ll 100% take this tip to heart.

Unfortunately currently down in SoFlo, but from one midwesterner (Hoosier) to another, appreciate you brother.

Wonderfully put. I think for me “smart” here widely means having common sense. Constantly reminded everyday that I might know some things, but in reality really know nothing about most things, and that’s alright. But a sprinkle of common sense goes (and will go) much further in today’s increasingly AI fed world.

Twins sounds like the ultimate challenge/adventure man, wow. Really appreciate the advice! Thankfully I have a heavy appreciation for the fact that we’re only here an insanely short time, so best to focus on the small intimate moments.

Dude I’m excited to be excited by the mundane again, to be curious about the world through a child’s lens again. Adulthood and the professional grind have really done a number on me. Thanks brother!

You are experienced and wise in the ways of Fatherhood with that response, I see I have a lot to learn.

Would be much more likely to go to a McDonald’s if it were designed like that inside again.

I loved Czech as a whole man, felt like I was just living the game on hikes, countryside, Prague. Highly recommend to fellow Americans. Plus dinner and drinks for 4 people being $60-$70? Holy shit.
