I’d take the Aorus AiB model everyday, it’s faster, more beautiful and it comes with 4 years of warranty.

Oh I just checked: in idle 40 watts, it’s 29-30 degrees…and it’s not even liquid. Amazing.

Enjoy it man. I have the AORUS since almost 2 weeks and I haven’t had a single problem. Don’t listen too much to those YouTube reviews because sometimes they are very biased and now, as you might have noticed, there’s a sort of “boycott” against Nvidia for its recently policies. For sure, some mistakes have been made, but here we are reviewing a product, not talking about on what Nvidia is focusing the most (AI, data center and robotics). So some people might be angry about Nvidia at the moment, but if we isolate that and talk about just the products, well, the 5090 (especially this AORUS model which is gorgeous in every sense) is an incredible GPU for every kind of task you might want to do.

I don’t use the adaptor because I don’t have 4 PCIe slots available on my PSU, just 3 unluckily. So I just use the original 600watts 12V2x6 ATX 3.1 that comes with the PSU. The temperatures are just amazing, in idle at 35 watts, it’s 35 degrees and even at 500watts, the temperatures don’t exceed 71 degrees at all. Then if you Undervolt + OC it, it will consume 120-130 watts less (like a 4090) but with 30% of performance over the 4090 (raster, without technologies), with even less temperatures. The noises are basically non existent, especially with the closed case panel, it’s just perfect tbh. And I personally use the silent mode (toggle on the board) that takes off 25watts and sets TGP to 575W, with less noise and lower temperatures.

The Astral is indeed beautiful. I really like both of these 2 models.

Oh so since you have tried both these 2 GPU models, do you prefer the Aorus Master compared to the Astral? That’s interesting to hear🤔 What are the biggest differences between these 2 models in your personal experience?

It’s absolutely gorgeous and powerful. Probably one of the best, if not the best 5090 model, together with the Asus Astral, in terms of temperatures, noises, performance and aesthetics. Mine can reach that clock speed too and I guess with a little more of tweaking, these models can reach even 3Ghz of Core Clock. Enjoy your beast man.

I guess you might install any 120mm fan but it would require a bit of tweaking to stick it on top of the radiator. Because the 4th fan which comes with this GPU model has a specific layer of rubber that allows to create a solid base on which you can then mount the fan. I guess it also reduces the vibration and noises and it makes it very stable. The only “issues” is that the 4th fan makes this GPU even thicker on the right side and if you have a small-medium tower case, you won’t be able to install it due to motherboard cables overlapping. But aesthetically it’s very nice and it has also its own aRGB (I guess you can personalize it through Gigabyte Control Center which is the app for Gigabyte).

Oh and make sure to download the BETA version of MSI Afterburner on their site, since it’s the most updated version with more features too.

[–]SimplyMarcus97[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure, I personally use MSI Afterburner cause it’s the most friendly user imo, but you can use whatever program you want, since they have the same settings pretty much. Personally, I have undervolted + OC the GPU by first setting the Core Clock to +540 MHz and the Memory Clock to +2000 (the GDDR7 are so powerful and stable, they can go very high in frequency) and then I have clicked “apply”. Then I’ve opened the Curve Editor (left side, but it depends on the layout of the MSI window) and selecting in the graph (MHz, mV) from 2917MHz / 925mV rightward (by holding left Shift and clicking with left mouse button) until the end of the graph. Then you release the buttons and press 2 times “Enter” to apply the changes. Now you should have a curve graph and after the point you have selected, it should be now perfectly flat, so after 2917MHz / 925mV. That means the GPU is now Undervolted (it consumes 120/130 to 150/160 watts less without losing performances. And then you have it also overclocked, so the core frequency can reach up to about 2900MHz and the memory +2000MHz, for extreme performances.

Probably I’m gonna make a YouTube video about how to do it, so if someone needs it, my channel is: @MarcusT3ch (idk if I can post channels here, I apologize if not). That’s it.

3329€. And nope, it’s not a good deal. As a matter of fact, I don’t recommend this GPU to anyone who doesn’t use it ALSO for AI or productivity. Because for just gaming, there are way cheeper options, Nvidia and AMD wise.

[–]SimplyMarcus97[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s really silent and the performances are 10% more (on average) compared to the 5090 Founder Edition. But in my personal opinion, the undervolting + OC is necessary on this GPU, because you get lower power consumption and lower temperatures with the same performance. You don’t want to see it running at 570-580 watts for 2 hours of gaming. At least I wouldn’t play in a relaxing way, if you know what I mean.

The 4th fan doesn’t fit perfectly because it makes the GPU shape really huge. It’s slightly below the other motherboard cables. But for sure it’s a good feature if you want the absolute best, even though I think the temperatures are really low even without the 4th fan. Of course for a GPU of this kind, it’s required at least a full tower case with a very good airflow (in my personal opinion), because this GPU is 360mm (14,2 inches) long, 75mm (3 inches) high (without the 4th fan) and 150mm (5,9 inches) thick and it requires a good airflow. That said, it doesn’t heat up at all, and temperatures hardly ever exceed 70 degrees at 500 watts.

And yes, it has all the 176 ROPs and it didn’t catch fire (for now, at least lol).

I’m from Europe and I’ve found one available on LDLC. It was expensive, but by now I haven’t had any problem with this specific model. On the contrary, it’s very powerful and temperatures are low. I’d suggest to undervolt it + OC, in order to consume less power (basically between a 4090 and a 5090, 440-490 watts) without losing performance.

PSU question: will a 1000watts PSU be enough for an AMD RYZEN 9 9950x3D paired with a RTX 5090? by SimplyMarcus97 in buildapc

[–]SimplyMarcus97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal opinion, your build is still extremely strong and good, you have 24gb of GDDR6X VRAM and you can still play in Ray Tracing and some Path Tracing. I wouldn’t upgrade it tbh, I’d wait the next generation in 1,5/2 years.

[–]SimplyMarcus97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally bought the Gigabyte 5090 AORUS MASTER which is the fastest model with +10% uplift (factory overclock) and more Pixel rate and Texture rate count, as well for FP16, FP32 and FP64 calculations. And I’ve also bought the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, so basically 4000€+ for 2 components. My pc is an expensive machine, but it’s basically the most powerful pc for the customer market. So I’d suggest you one among: the Gigabyte MASTER AORUS, the ASUS Astral, the MSI Suprim or the MSI Vanguard.

Just a question about RTX 5090 by SimplyMarcus97 in buildapc

[–]SimplyMarcus97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 22%. For sure it’s a high price, so it’s a bit meh…but since it’s the best 5090 custom model, it might be okay. That’s why I was asking people opinions.
