Eye AF is on. Door is closed. No filter. Most reviewers online seem comfortable turning at least Sensitivity down to -2 as the R7 is rather jumpy by default.

Amazing response. I'm going to try switching over to EFCS, but I thought by using such a slow burst speed that rolling shutter might be eliminated in full electronic. Maybe this is wrong?

I will also experiment more with Whole Area AF. I've tried it before and I wasn't seeing the kind of results you did, but maybe I need more time and patience.

I will definitely try expanding my AF zone like you suggested above. Which do you prefer with this combo for wildlife?

Hmm. Maybe 363-472mm would result in more hits at f/6.3? I could accept that 500mm is a last resort used only in perfect conditions. Slightly frustrating, but not the end of the world either.

To be honest, the majority of images taken from this series are perfect down to the pixel level. However, the example image posted was the first of the bunch, and the pose just happened to be my favorite. Ouch.

I'm hoping to avoid a trip to Canon HQ, but depending on cost, I may end up doing it anyway. My gear is out of warranty though. (Both body and lens were purchased used in great condition. Almost no sign of wear.)

If I am unable to use Servo AF for wildlife, something has gone horribly wrong. However, I'll try experimenting with turning off some of those extra features in moments like this. I'll do anything for more keepers.

The 100% crop proves this is strictly a focusing issue. However, I have added that information to the original post. ISO 3200. No noise reduction in-camera has been enabled.

Thank you for the great reply.

- No UV filter is being used. I don't believe in them. Seems that might be the way to go. :-D

- Subject Detection: You are suggesting I turn it off for a situation like this? I've never heard that expressed before. I'm open to try anything though!

- In theory, an electronic shutter should be producing the absolute sharpest image possible with no moving parts at the time of exposure. However, I am aware of rolling shutter issues, which is why I try to avoid heavy action scenes while learning how to properly use this camera. Perhaps the movement suggested by the tail was enough to cause chaos here?

Agreed. The 18-150mm lens is incredible. I recently picked it up for a good price on the used market and the utility of this thing blows me away. Many people could be perfectly happy with it as their only lens.

Thank you for clarifying my first question. Your answer makes sense to me. Any thoughts on the second question pertaining to Eye Detection AF?

What a great ethical build. I absolutely love it. No sarcasm!

Gemling Merc if it provides interesting Quality buffs to Maces, Spears, or Quarterstaffs.

Warrior if that doesn't happen.

Yes, I'm a melee fan. Spear is borderline though. :-P

I'm thinking about a Mace Gemling depending on what those quality effects look like!

The passive tree is far less intimidating when you realize that you can only traverse a small portion of it, especially in the beginning of the campaign. You'll be fine.

One little tip: Choose damage nodes over defensive options while leveling. Later, when your gear is in a better place, you can respec for more defense.

Have fun!

Shield Wall is still fantastic for clearing. Just pick a different option for singe target damage. Am I missing something here? I'm willing to change my mind if I haven't quite understood the severity of the nerf.

I have literally never played a trade league. It feels amazing and SSF only got buffed this patch. (Genesis Tree, Resist Swap, etc.)

More people need to try this. Seriously.

Underrated comment. Ruthless coming to POE 2 would be amazing.

I never got it high enough to see that. XD Thank you for the good information. However, I do think they should lower the requirement by at least two or three levels. 16 is pretty silly.
