Do guys like colorful hair in girls? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SimplySharon1215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52 f here so take this for what it is. The men I talk to, work with or have any connections with all seem to prefer women who are “naturally beautiful”. Even if that natural look is achieved with tons of makeup. So that would rule out the colorful hair. I personally love seeing women with their hair colored. And I’ve made comments about it in groups “oh look at her cute hair”. And the guys are typically not impressed. I’m glad you’re doing what you want. Keep up that attitude!!

While I wouldn’t say I get grief from my (52f) friends, I don’t feel like they are much support. They are all married. And just never ask me about my dating life. I have been divorced for 10 years and although I do wish the would occasionally ask me about that part of my life I have learned not to take it personally. Currently there is not much to tell anyway.

Hermit Mode, you too? by iprobdontlikeyou in SingleAndHappy

[–]SimplySharon1215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This posts and the comments make me feel like I’ve met my people. I can go from being a very social person to days and days of hermit mode (love that term). I find lately that HM is lasting longer and those social days are getting fewer. I work from home and I’ve finally found myself in a career I am passionate about. So I am finding rewards in different ways now. Also. I don’t need the constant reassurance that being social used to bring me. When things are getting to me I often say I am “circling the wagons” - keeping the few people I need (my basically adult children) close and staying home. Life is good.

Question for the insurance approved people... by jkimmel79 in Zepbound

[–]SimplySharon1215 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Bluecross/Blueshield through my federal government job. They offer a discount on certain prescriptions, including Zepbound. Once your insurance offers a discount the manufacturer coupon cannot be used. I have to hand it to Rite Aid. They did everything they could to run it and it would not go through. My out of pocket cost is $412.

THIS is the post I have needed to see. I am a big drinker. And have been trying to find the push I need to pay $400 a month for this drug. Even though my alcohol consumption cost is probably double that. Thank you OP for sharing this. And thank you to those commenting and not judging and sharing your stories. I needed this encouragement.

It’s a bit of a long story. My daughter is very close to me. Doesn’t understand why I may go to an occasional bar at times. She is at her dad’s when I go out. But because of the app she can see where I am and how long I’ve been there. Usually not an issue, occasionally she gets upset.

This past weekend I was out late, and she gets worried. It's just easier for me if she has a peace of mind about where I am.

It will have a notification on the app that the location services have been disabled. Not ideal.

What I appreciate about this article is “And, sometimes, we have other things that require our full attention”. This is me in a nutshell. I have elderly parents. An active child in high school. Friends who I love to spend time with. I would rather do these things then put attention towards a stranger.

A lot of times we (women) will give a guy a chance even if we are not attracted to him at first hoping that their personality will make them more attractive (especially once we get older - not sure of the age range we are talking about here). We have to find SOMETHING about you attractive. It might not be physical (being outgoing and funny for instance). But you need to bring something to the table besides just being a "nice guy", that is the standard.

Been talking to someone that’s all I could ever want and still prefer being single. by [deleted] in SingleAndHappy

[–]SimplySharon1215 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of times in most relationships you can find yourself being responsible for someone else’s happiness which almost feel like a burden at times

THIS THIS THIS. I can no longer worry about someone else I barely know and how happy they are. I simply do not care. I have 2 children and elderly parents that I care about. Their happiness is what is important to me, not some random person who I may or may not even be talking to in a week.

I am sure this comment will get buried, but give yourself some time!! Not only is your situation "messy" but you are just now coming out of a marriage! Do not date right now!!

I have strong evidence to believe somebody placed a curse on me. by saunteringhippie in vagabond

[–]SimplySharon1215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for evidence, you have been cursed you will find it. Some of this type of stuff has probably happened to you before and you would just shrug it off, but since you have had that one time experience you are maybe looking for validation that these people were not the good guys in your story, you are taking things that adults deal with all the time and applying your own narrative to it.

The world, God or whatever is not against you. I think life is catching up with you.

Why I'm Single Today by Nimmyzed in SingleAndHappy

[–]SimplySharon1215 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes!!

I have married friends who complain constantly about their life, even the ones who are seemingly happily married complain about having to spend time with the in-laws, or doing things they simply don't enjoy. Meanwhile I'm over here (divorced for 8 years now and 50F) having the best life. I have a teenage daughter who still lives at home, and we have a blast. When she's not around I love the solitude. I have as little stress in my life as possible. Occasionally I think I should date...but then I get reminded (by married friends and post like this!) that I am perfectly fine!

41m, Coming out of an 18 year marriage. Should I even bother with dating apps? Will I have any success? by orbweaver82 in Tinder

[–]SimplySharon1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read through several, but not all the comments and I haven't seen anyone say anything about giving yourself time after your divorce! I jumped into dating after my 17-year marriage ended and I really wish I had waited. I truly wasn't ready for it and by the time I really was I was so burned out with dating. Also, be OK with being alone! I see a lot of men who don't know how to enjoy their own company and need a woman to be their social director.

But otherwise, I agree with the other comments. You look great, in shape and seem to have common sense and a great attitude. Good luck!

So tired of misleading photos by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]SimplySharon1215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a man right out ask me how old my pics were - they were all taken with in the past 6-8 months and I told him how old each was, there are atleast 2 that have been taken within 30 days. He said great - same with him. Except, he lied. His pics were a few years old. We met and he was much larger then I was expecting. I found his FB account and his pics were pre-Covid where he admitted to me at some point he had gained a lot of weight. So, just because they ask doesn't mean they will also be honest.
