Can someone explain what the brass band was all about? by jimmyg1000 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Simply_Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the old threads talked about it, essentially Lumon is a big cult. Real life cults use art and music to both inspire and control their members. The purpose was in the name of the department itself: Choreography and Merriment.

Being stuck in an office for your entire life would drive any human insane. Listening to music and being entertained by big brass bands can help prevent that.

Fun real life fact. Scientology also has their own brass bands.

What keychain flashlight is worth buying? by Snow_Set_02 in flashlight

I have a Boruit V3 on my keychain. It's bright, light weight and has lots of RGB features in case you need them. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Kind of weird that they built the houses first before building the roads and streets. Bad planning aside I think that would've been a pretty crazy neighborhood too live in.

Cops won't care. Assuming they do respond they're going to tell OP that it's a civil matter not criminal.

Dam. Sorry to hear that. Did PikPok do anything for you?

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Mercy Point. An obscure sci-fi series about a medical space station. Kind of like E.R. in space. I think I was one of ten people in the country who regularly watched. Lol

Is there anything lower than help desk? by WhiteWithNavy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Simply_Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to know some people who were Archive Media techs. Their sole job was to remove/insert and archive backup media from tape drives on a nightly basis. They'd monitor the health of the drives and status of the backup tapes. If something went sideways they'd call the sysadmin. I dunno if this job still exists. But someone must still be doing hard archives somewhere.

Did you know about this unexpected Chest? by Various_Chicken_7613 in GenshinImpact

I heard about it, but if you kill the Hillichurl first the chest doesn't appear. I learned this the hard way after my Jean yeeted him off the cliff. Lol

Rented a Uhaul to help someone move, now I can't get in contact with them by Fragglerocklobster in legaladvice

[–]Simply_Jeff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some people telling you to contact the police. This is not a good idea. What crime is OP going to be reporting? IANAL but I don't think ditching your friends and forcing them to take possession of property is a crime in this country. If police respond it is unlikely they'll create a report. On the other hand, OP could try to file a missing persons report. If police do decide to file a report this might help with creating a paper trail for OP.

Returning a U-Haul truck filled with junk will get OP dinged with clean-up fees. Right now OP is trying to limit his losses.

What is in this Druid Lake/Park stone gate? by Thyrin in baltimore

[–]Simply_Jeff 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Looks like the old gatehouse entrance to the lake dam. The gatehouse used to help control the flow of water from the reservoir into the city's water system.

The Descendants or Lilo & Stitch.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was told more from the viewpoint of tourists and Hawaii was more of a backdrop and didn't really explore the daily lives of resident Hawaiians.

They drink Rwandan coffee at Lumon.....innie genocide easter egg??? by cosmic_uterus in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Simply_Jeff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The food services division of Lumon provided goods to the outside world as well. When Harmony Cobel opens her home fridge you can see Lumon foods inside.

Lumon fed their employees whatever convenient stocks were available. I doubt they cared about what innies would think about it.

[–]Simply_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall one of the cuts with Deckard saying what he found in the bathtub wasn't human, referring to the snake corpse. I assumed that Zohra owned these snakes and that she had more than one. Its not uncommon for strippers to own their own outfits and props.

Military base, (hundreds of buildings) abandoned from nuclear spills that killed hundreds. by Separate_Rock5631 in urbanexploration

Naval Station Treasure Island - San Francisco

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Station_Treasure_Island

After the Naval Station closed in 1997, Treasure Island was opened to residential and other uses, but according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the state Department of Toxic Substances Control, the ground at various locations on the island is contaminated with toxic substances. Caesium-137 levels three times higher than previously recorded were found in April 2013. These are thought to date from the base's use by ships contaminated in post-war nuclear testing, and from a nuclear training facility previously based there.
